I'm actually spec'ing a new VM server right now ;)
I assume that you will be testing multiple VMs on the same physical machine? In my experience, you run out of RAM way before anything else. A basic system with a Q6600 and 8-16GB of RAM should be able to manage a mess of machines. If there is...
When I plug my Razer Copperhead mouse into my Belkin 4-port USB KVM, it inverts the vertical. This didn't happen to a bunch of other mice, just this one. Very random.
I'm still running a Q6600 at home @3Ghz and it is a great chip. Though the Q9550 @ 3.6Ghz at the office is appreciably better in CS4, XviD encoding, and games.
Nice restaurants have nice bathrooms. The frozen food stuff is for the office, and I have a freezer and a microwave at the office. The vending machine is capable of taking just about anything, but single serving is still a goal.
I have control over what goes in the vending machine, and I have a freezer. I only have a microwave, so oven stuff is out.
And why go to the car when the restaurant has a ladies room ;)
If they let you strip out all the crap, I wouldn't be complaining. Even if it was all there by default (to be user-friendly), the option to remove it all would be awesome.
I'm still recommending Dell Latitudes, and I got to play with a precision workstation...very sweet. They may not be the best, but they aren't bad, and everyone knows Dell. I'm happy with my ASUS, but that is a tougher sell.
Storms don't really happen here. We are a client of this company at other locations, and have had a fairly good experience. The thought is that if this is their backbone, they will have better reliability.
It is the first. How much are we going to charge them for installing a tower at one of our facilities. Part of the payment they are offering is an internet connection.
Lately I've been doing frozen stuff from the vending machine. Yesterday was an 18-hour day, and today has been 13 so far, with only 5 hours in between (most of it sleep). Does anyone have any frozen favorites?
Absolutely. My Sharp Aquos is nearly as good as my Viewsonic VP2130b in terms of general usability, though the color rendition leaves something to be desired; same issues as other LCDs, but worse. The bigger it is, the more uneven the backlighting, and the greater the viewing angle difference...
There are many assumption here that are wrong.
1. I hadn't spoken to anyone before posting here.
2. I'm currently paying for a T-1 (1.5/1.5), so a 2/2 would be comparable
3. What is a MW? Microwave? This is 5.6Ghz stuff.
4. We aren't doing it for the internet connection, the question was about...
I did some research, and talked to the installer. It looks like $250k/mo, plus electricity usage, 2mb/s symmetrical internet, and removal of the equipment is what I'll be able to get. Considering I'm currently running a T-1 out there, it should save another $500/mo.
Yup. I'm not looking forward to 7, I just know that support for XP will go away eventually (drivers, apps, etc). When it does, I would love to be OS independent. Web apps, VMs, even terminal servers are all preferable to being pinned down.
It is neat; the web UI is cool, and it seems to play nicer with the hosts resources. But it isn't nearly as fast or slim as ESXi. That is just awesome.
I bought Sins of a Solar Empire yesterday, and it won't even install on my PC. Comes up with some error about being out of memory (unlikely with 8GB in the system). Somewhere on a forum I read that this can be fixed by installing the Demo first, then uninstalling it, then installing the game...
Yup, it behaves a lot like ESXi, but it isn't. And isn't compatible with Virtual Center, which is awesome. Looks like I'll be spending some money with them soon; their policy of giving away the low-end stuff is paying off.
My 42" is a Sharp Aquos, and I love it, but they are not the cheapest. I wouldn't go for anything less than a 1080P screen, there is just no point in locking yourself out of better quality. Westinghouse makes a nice 1080P 37" for $700.
Perhaps not ill-conceived, but targeted at a niche market. Many things targeted at a niche end up being wanted by everyone. Trucks and SUVs come to mind; a few need them, most want them.
I can understand that. When I traveled a lot on business (alone in lots of unfamiliar cities), I would look for the nearest Cheesecake Factory. The one in Palo Alto is better than SF, but Denver is excellent.
A stereo for the office. Looking for a 2-speaker system with Amp. No need for multiple audio sources, no size restrictions. Specifically looking for something that doesn't need a subwoofer to fill in the low/mid range and sounds good at very low volume.
If nothing will work better than a $400...
It is an executive position, though the company isn't formal about titles. I report directly to the boss and have my own department. He's never fired anyone without ridiculous cause; drug or alcohol issues aren't even enough (unless you fail the company-sponsored rehab). I've worked with him for...
On a more pleasant note, the custom furniture for my office arrived (finally) today. And it took me 30 minutes to move from my temp cube in accounting, I almost didn't wait for the cleaning guy to finish before I was in.
Now that I'm here, the place certainly needs something. I plan to be here...
