    Excel and databases

I would use MS Access. You can create a table and it will create a form for data input for you. Then you can customize this form to your needs. If you know how to program in VB/VBA then you can customize how the form works for you needs. If you need to look at a MS Access database that does...

    Housecall in Firefox

Firefox won't run a suspicious Java applet unless you give it express permission. If you go to the site I linked above, and click scan my PC, firefox will ask you before running the applet.

    Housecall in Firefox

I would have used IE, but it's screwed up and won't load housecall. I didn't feel like spending hours fixing it so I found an alternative.

    Housecall in Firefox

So you don't have any Java runtimes installed on your system at all? I don't think there is any hack here at all. This version of housecall just uses the Java 2 runtimes; I already had them installed anyways.

    Housecall in Firefox

I was trying to get Housecall to work in Firefox to no avail. So I started searching and found this. A version of Housecall that uses Java and works in most web browsers and on several different operating systems that ActiveX would never work with. If there is something similar on the US...

    Firefox 1.0

The 6 tabs that were open when I wrote my previous post aren't very big at all. One was the Storageforum reply, two are Gmail, and the other three were just text pages not more than a few KB in size with a couple small jpg ads.

    Firefox 1.0

One problem I am having with Firefox is how it handles a large number of tabs that all contain a large number of images. The amount of memory that is used is incredible. I switched over from Crazybrowser, which is based on IE and this has never been a problem before. Let's say I have 30-40...

Do I need to do anything special to install over 1.0PR? I don't want to lose all my extensions and settings. Can I just install it or do I need to uninstall and then install the new version.

    Notebook buying advice

Finally got it ordered completely. Also ordered another 256MB of RAM from Crucial. I think 512MB should be plenty for light use. Total cost with tax and shipping is about $1660. A little more than they wanted to spend initially, but should be a good notebook. Now, I just hope that they use...

    Notebook buying advice

I am finally getting around to ordering this notebook. I'm getting the 1.5GHz Pentium M, because some of the WiFi adapters weren't available with the Celeron. I also decided to go with the 15" screen, because my parents are old and can't see small things very well. Everything else is...

    Notebook buying advice

Pradeep, how much extra is "National Access MOU"? I just looked at the Verizon site, but don't see that listed. It seems like most of the phones have National Access capability though, which is good.

    Notebook buying advice

I might get them a burner for getting pictures off of the notebook, but it will give me an ulcer to teach them how to use it. I doubt that a 15in screen will make all that big of a deal to them. I'm not going to worry about the speed of the hard drive at all. My parents are not all that...

    Notebook buying advice

My dad does have Verizon, but his phone is a few years old. Do you need a special kind of plan to get data or does any normal plan work? How much does the cable/any other equipment cost? Does any newer phone work with this?

    I started running again

If you noticed that I am around again, it's because I am. Decided that the Marine Corps wasn't really what I wanted. I exercised my right to drop on request on Monday and here I am back at home. Found out lots of things about myself, one of them being that I need more freedom than what is...

    Setting up a business online

You could open a merchant account with a local bank and then tie this in with a shopping cart system on your website, this way you wouldn't be using any third party site to sell your goods. I think this way is the most professional looking way to sell goods online.
