    Train Travel

I'll be taking Amtrak from Chicago to Kansas City to visit my sister over Thanksgiving. Train ride is actually faster than driving by about an hour and a half, not counting traffic getting out of Chicago or stopping to eat. I just hope the train is running on time.

Should There be a Ban on Incandescent Lamps?

I've heard that CFLs don't do well in overly humid environments, a bathroom where the shower is used probably gets pretty humid. http://energystar.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/energystar.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2567

The backslash is needed if you want the code to be XHTML valid. Not necessary for HTML 4.01, but won't hurt. The border="0" is not needed, unless you don't want a border.

Could you just do something like this? <a href="fullSizeImage.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="thumbnailImage.jpg" border="0" /></a> If you are looking to set the size of the window, remove the address bar, etc, you will need to use JavaScript, but then you risk getting blocked by pop-up blockers.

The task manager? No, it doesn't I'm wondering if my system is configured correctly for quad CPUs. I can't even get 2 of the cores to max out in Photoshop.

    Should we ban disposable batteries?

Why couldn't a timer be integrated into the charger. Set the timer to the appropriate charge time and it will turn off after however many hours you set. Maybe some of the charges already have them, but I bet none of the cheap ones do.

<sarcasm>Yeah, a car that can do 0-60 in 4 seconds is really necessary for that.</sarcasm> You don't need a fast car to pass on 2 lane roads, you need a competent, experienced driver.

Why not hold off on the upgraded HSF? The stock coolers that come with Core 2 Duos are pretty good and those chips run cool, so you will still be able to OC it, just not as much.

Do you have a friend in the US or Canada that would be willing to ship you the parts you need? I don't know how much shipping would be, or what customs are like in Israel though. Also, have you considered trying to get the same motherboard used from eBay?

Suggest a decent 19" LCD monitor

I have a feeling that this will come true within the next couple of decades. A barrel of petroleum currently costs almost $96. Wait until next memorial day to see what gas prices look like. Freeways not money pits? Case in point: the Dan Ryan Reconstruction project in Chicago. Cost: $975 million, more than double what it was supposed to cost. This is for a road that is already built and only 12.5 miles long. It is a 14 lane road and only can handle 320k cars a day. It's also one...

The main reason I use a CMS is so that someone non-technical can maintain the content after I have finished developing it. It is more work up front, but worth the payoff in that someone can be pretty easily trained to us the admin interface to make updates.
