    Ever deepening hatred for WD

Earplugs always become uncomfortable for me after short durations. That's a pretty good idea. Newegg would be great from a large sample size perspective. One drawback might be the question of how many of those defective drives would be resultant of shitty Newegg packaging jobs (as many...

    Microsoft TV/Video Connection

Paint job on Antec AMG case

My mistake, it was a 3700AMB case that we used. The finish on this case looks great too, but its durability is obviously questionable. The other knock I would give against the case was the really cheap plastic door covering the exterior bays. ....... Out of curiousity, I checked on Antec's...

Will there be PCI to PCI-E adapters?

Yeah, now that I think about it, if it isn't a low profile PCI card to begin with, then getting the bracket to fit in the back of a case's expansion slots would be next to impossible with pretty much anything but the most tiny of adapters ..... but I won't rule out the possiblity of someone...

Paint job on Antec AMG case

I put together a budget system for a friend last night (actually its intended for his sister's oldest son, but anyways) and used an Antec 2600AMG case. I had heard about people mentioning how easy the paint job gets scratched on some of the newer Antec cases (in particular, our very own Blake...

    Credit Card Obnoxiousness

...though, in fairness (and because he was actually a good guy), (a) there wasn't a whole lot of content back then (unless you count porn), and (b) being older, I can understand that he had natural suspicions of this new fangled mumbo jumbo technology.

Will there be PCI to PCI-E adapters?

I was thinking about a physical adapter with a bridge chip within it...something along the lines of an Abit serillel type thingy .... only in this case it would be PCI card into adapter -> adapter into PCI-E slot. Something along what was shown in an Anandtech article a while back.

    Building a dirt-cheap HTPC....

No, there is two: PVR350 - uses the iTVC15 (later rebadged as CX23415 after Connexant purchased the original chip manu.). This is a hardware encoding and decoding capable chip. It has its own little heat sink and works in conjunction with two RAM chips. The card also has a TV output, made...

There were one or two mentioned by Will in a thread on SR not too long ago. Another little thing that pisses me off with TB/FF: say you have a couple of tabs open already. Then say you wanted to also open all the links from one of your bookmark folders. Problem is selecting "open in tabs" causes all of your existing tabs to be used when opening the links from the...

Hmm, I don't know about this one, solely for the fact that no one...

Absolutely true for the most part of Canada. However, the situation is changing for some centres. Toronto, for instance, currently has the one and only Canadain OTA channel; CityTV. By Q4, that will list will also include Toronto|1, CTV, CBC (two stations...FR & Eng?). Yet at the same time...

Onboard vs. PCI sound and LAN
