    Tape Backup Solutions

i have lots of remote servers and lots of consulting clients. most of them use small business server 2000. i back up to a 160gb maxtor 5400rpm disk m/t/w/t/f and every other saturday, and a tape is only used for offsite storage once per week (or an additional/alternative offsite backup via...

or unless the admin has used exmerge to repopulate the database because of corruption. for larger installations, this is almost a necessity at some point in the db's lifetime. i'd say i have about a 40% must-use-exmerge rate after about 2 years of uptime on e5.5/e2k

its.fubar, i don't think i'm out of line in saying that you're probably wasting a lot of anger on this situation. i just skimmed storagereview from your posts, and i'm only finding anger-riddled anti-usa sentiments. go take a walk, enjoy your own country, and be GLAD you don't live here if...

    Dual NICs for redundancy, howto?

a normal board will likely work just fine. i would just make sure that you use cool drives and cpus - these will be stacked and confined.

    Dual NICs for redundancy, howto?

expansion should be accounted for - rack psus are more expensive and not exactly the kind of thing one has laying around

    Dual NICs for redundancy, howto?

looks okay to me, supermicro certainly has a good rep as well enermax, sparkle, and seventeam are all big names in rackmount psus. 400+w should be more than enough.

that may all come to pass, but for now it is just pontification. in the present tense, serverworks gives immense value to intel's name.

how can i not directly interpret the words of someone so clearly OBJECTIVE about the situation? no reserved opinions about the us or its citizens, right? you were (and are) running circles of unjustifiable rationalization, and now you're really letting your prejudice shine. just leave me out...

    Dual NICs for redundancy, howto?

the gateway trick would not work at all. of more immediate importance, do you have raid1, dual power supplies, and a ups on this system? those components are infinitely more likely to fail unless you've got your pci bus cranked. just get a single intel eepro/100s and be happy/fast/stable...

    Broadcom/Serverworks: Paradise Lost?

i'm not sure why intel would grin about this one. serverworks is largely responsible for intel's stability/reliability reputation in the server space.

since i now need disclaimers, here's one :( do not misinterpret this as justification. i completely agree that the killing of innocents is wrong okay, now. israel is literally connected to the palestenian region, and neither of them are that large. lots of palestenians live in israel...

i don't see where you're inferring that i think it's excusable behavior if it was infact intentional. i was only pointing it out to counter the 'she was there checking things out' bit. i feel i can speak pretty confidently as i am an observant american. racism against blacks is not against...

i would be willing to wager that most people who are against the war have at least 50% of their 'anti-war' sentiment stemming from a hatred of america in general. (this does not discredit their interest in peace, whatever part that may be)

the girl that got rolled by an israeli tank did fall by accident (according to her friends), and she was there burning american flags and aiding palestenians, not 'checking things out'. just reporting what i read, not picking sides.

Ever wanted to know the thoughts of car fans?

i still think the 4-door golf looks stunning, but there isn't a 4-door gti in the usa. the reason i wanted the jetta is because for years, since probably 99, when evaluating cars to buy i would always come back to the jetta. 'oh hey the tt looks nice...' 'oh hey a lexus rx300 wouldn't be...

and yes, that is a tiburon - my roommate's. my gf (who also lives with me) drives a mid-nineties honda crv. that thing is as reliable as the day is long, very roomy, and a perfect height. i like the way older crv bodies look too.

no mods for me for a while. maybe in a year or two :) for warranty hassle and other reasons i want to stick to the defaults until about 30k-40k miles, at which point i'll be 'newing up' my car with a mod. adding while i still have the new car joy would probably add about 5% to my happiness...

considering a honda crv and a pontiac sunfire are my only regular references, it's mind-numbingly good :) i absolutely love how the car is silent when idle. with no ac and no radio, the only clue the car is running is a SLIGHT jitter on the steering wheel. when you rev it up you get a smooth...

    Dual Domain Membership in UNIX

if you only need to access files you don't have to be a member of the domain. just join the workgroup and use your full domain name in your login. never looked into dual domain samba, as windows doesn't support dual membership and workgroups do the trick just fine.
