    UNIX CPU BURN IN PROGRAM

first off, let me open with 'lol' http://users.ev1.net/~redelm/ is the only one i know of / have used offhand, but i wouldn't suggest anything for you really. just set scripts to compile something decent at random intervals. a locked 100% is way too suspicious.

    Three email questions

for the attachment stripping you would probably be best off either exporting it to a text format to do the work with a script, or resend it to your own mail server equipped with something like demime for the header hacking, this is again trivial if you run your own mail server.

    Grado SR60 - Excellent headphones

afaik the world's most popular studio phones are the sony mdr-7506. i used them when i dj'd, and every engineer/dj i know uses them. they have a great range, and you can wear them for 12 hours on end with absolutely no problems. exceptional comfort.

    network connection question

buy a cheapo linksys hardware router and you'll be more secure in addition to getting full ethernet speed without having to crack the cases

this is almost definitely a perm issue under docs & settings reinstalling should not be necessary, worst case would be smoking the user dir(s) and recreating the user

480p = edtv (enhanced definition) i'm against plasmas until they can produce true black and accurate colors :) rear-projection dlp is my vote for the near future of tv.

even if you don't want to buy a gti or any vw i would strongly suggest test driving one just to feel its construction, just so you make a better long-term decision. if you can live without it, awesome. you'll beat my gli in a 0-60, but i'd much rather have it :)

i was referring to the aesthetics. i don't think it's very unique looking, and it still looks like a neon, and it still says 'neon' :) i could have bought a scooby wrx for around the same price as my jetta but i didn't because i didn't like the look/feel.

self-rolled dsl is seriously uncool because the lines aren't tagged and techs get electrocuted. it can also disrupt service for non-related customers. i'm not kidding, i know a tech this happened to.

FYI: "Canadians are hooked on speed"

in st louis, mo i pay $70/month for a pppoe-assigned static ip (weird huh?), i believe 5 email addresses, and 1.5/384 speeds. no activation fee, free router (which i didn't take), etc.

3Com embedded NIC - is it any good?

you don't have to take the lid off - just change cables and try. i would strongly suspect auto-sensing of port speeds here as well.

    They've lost me this time

it wasn't to imply that you should give up your cause, just that you might not make yourself so upset in the process. it is quite possible to actively protest something without letting it ruin your day.
