    Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus or Xigmatek SD1283 Gaia?

    Both heatsinks are the same price on my lists. I already own the Xigmatek model, but the processor it is sitting on doesn't push it enough to tell wether it's good or very good. I know Handruin owns the Cooler Master and likes it. In theory, the Cooler Master should offer a superior cooling...

    Where to find a screen for a Toshiba laptop?

    Where to find a screen for a Toshiba laptop?

    Is there a place like www.partsurfer.hp.com, but for Toshiba? I need to replace the scren of a Satellite L300-0h9, but I don't know where to look for it. eBay is a no go. I want to have a warranty on the part, be it only 30 days, but I want one. I haven't find a compatible screen locally.

    I'm opening a new store and untill it opens and starts to bank in money, I'm bleeding cash big time. So in a way, yes, I'm in emergency and unless a volcano burst out of the ground between me and my suppliers, I'll be on the road to get all the missing stuff I need to open the store. Today was...

    Well, I'm sorry to hear about your little gust of wind, but here it's been the Apocalypse. We've had close to a foot of snow and the roads were like a freshly waxed bowling alley. I had to drive about a hundred kilometers with a rental RWD van that couldn't drive straight passed 60Km/h. To...

    Windows 7 scores

    Oh and it was a while since I checked your sig and it's crazy how insane you are. There's more than enough money across those four computers to buy a small nice car. Insane, I tell ya. When I find an empty spot on my floor, I put a computer running the FAH client, but it seems that when you...

    Windows 7 scores

    I became curious about Windows 7 scores when I read that Ddrueding's memory score was only 7.5 on his most powerful system. Somehow, for 12GB of 1600MHz DDR3, that seemed a tad low. So here are the scores of a few of my computers : Core i5 2400 with a kit of 4GB (2x2) Kingston 1333MHz...

    My Sandy Bridge Experience (Q6000 -> i7-2600K)

    Sometimes, a system that is stable for a few hours isn't necessarily stable in the long run. For instance, my damned i7 950 completed three big units with the FAH client (that's more than a week time), but it froze at 97% (more than two days of work) on the fourth one and then it started...

    My Sandy Bridge Experience (Q6000 -> i7-2600K)

    Between 38C and 42C with 4 cores at 100%. More realistic, but it still shows that the SD1283 was overkill. Oh well, at least it was easy to install and it's quiet. 30$ for tranquility isn't that bad.

    My Sandy Bridge Experience (Q6000 -> i7-2600K)

    Well, regarding MY i5 2400 experience, I hope Speedfan readings are erronous because if they are right, I wasted good money on a third-party heatsink. With all cores at 100% (Folding), Speefan reports temperature between 23C and 27C. Apparently, the retail heatsink would have been just fine...

    Sandy Bridge

    One of the nicest motherboards for Sandy Bridge is the Asus Sabertooth P67, but the design is made for a top-down cooler. I supposed it is more at risk of over-heating with a tower heatsink. It is a standard ATX motherboard. Personally, the Asus P8P67-M would be enough and it as a µ-ATX form...

    HTPC build

    Not all CAT5 cables are able to achieve gigabit speed. The cheaper ones or those with poorly made connectors will let too much noise interfere and the network will drop down to 100Mbit. If you want to be sure, replace your cables with CAT6.

    Use the equipment each side of your head. If you're satisfied with the result, then wether it is downsampling or not is of little importance. Like Merc said before, if it goes out of a cheapo integrated sound chip (what the Realtek is), the audio has been molested. Do you have a dedicated...
