I think we can rule out "insufficience" for the power supply. Sandy Bridge, at idle and at stock frequency, doesn't consume much electricity. The only thing I could see related to the power supply would be if the system wouldn't need enought juice on start-up. Some power supplies have issues...

I sold one, but connected both drives (one optical, one HDD) to the SATA 6Gbps ports. It will be fine as the customer won't add another hard drive in the system. I informed the customer before selling the board. He didn't want to wait for a replacement.

    Sandy Bridge problems

The problem is supposed to take around 3 years to develop. 400GB of daily transfer certainly is more than your average Joe's usage patern, but I doubt it will kill the ports in something like two months. Either way, the board is still under warranty. Our thanks for having played the Guinea pig.

3TB Hibachi reviewed at Tech Report

The 1TB and 2TB Hibachi drives have a firmware issue affecting some of their performances. I don't remember exactly, but there was a "C" somewhere in their model number. I've always avoided them for that reason. I saw that on reviews at xbitlabs. The 3TB models doesn't seem to be affected...

3TB Hibachi reviewed at Tech Report

Review It seems pretty fast for a mecanical drive. It's slightly above 200$ on my price lists. The two main drawbacks are the high idle power consumption (it's a five platters design) and noise, which is higher than most other modern mecanical drives. Also, I can get many other 2TB drives...
