    Photosystem for an Optical Shop

RE: The camera/photo deal....are you thinking of a kiosk layout (self serve, foolproof, and indestructable) or something where an employee of the company would assist (camera with button near the mirrors, printer behind the counter)? Either can be done fairly easily, but have different...

Looking for a home theater setup for <$500

Best of luck Pradeep ;) There's no way I'd get something that didn't have a DVI (or at least VGA) plug on it. Still not sold on RPTV beating a full-blown projection system. $2k will get you a nice system and a motorized screen.

''State Of The Art'' CPU Cooling (Circa Dec 2003)

Yeah, you mean C...It's been a while since I've got a CPU to operate @ 75F (486DX2-66MHz, cold to the touch while operating IIRC)

''State Of The Art'' CPU Cooling (Circa Dec 2003)

I've never even tried running a CPU that hot (intentionally). There were a few "fanless" situations where it was exceeded, but that was short-term. I might have to tone-down my fans even more just to see if they're still stable at my current voltage and clockspeed.

Looking for a home theater setup for <$500

I know, it's not much of a budget, but it's not for me. I need a single unit DVD Player/Reciever/Amp and all the speakers. Ideally with component video out, but that is a bit of a strech I know. Last year I got my GF a Pioneer model, the HTD-330 or the HTD-510DV, I can't remember. It's ok...

Oh, and a tiny bit of fluid dynamics, based on the shape of the H2 cloud, the density of what it is passing through and the speed at which it is moving.

Wouldn't this be a simple function of the molecular density inside vs. outside? ANd be dependant on, well, just about everything? (temp, atmospheric pressure, density of the gasses, etc.)

''State Of The Art'' CPU Cooling (Circa Dec 2003)

Not really, 40C is 104F. Although that is my current body temp (flu), it's definatlyu in the "sick" range. I do my best to keep the ambient in my case within 2 degrees of room temp, and the CPU under 110 during Prime95. Though I'll probably be toning this down just a little, it seems I can't...

''State Of The Art'' CPU Cooling (Circa Dec 2003)

Bone-lover? No special tricks at all, SLK-900U with a 92mm Panaflo "h" series + Zalman Fanmate, and AS3. I suppose it could be a little quieter, but I can only hear it when I stand up. When seated at my desk it's inaudible.

Papst fans - are they not supposed to be quiet?

Well, radio shacks selection dissapoints once again...it's McGyver time. I have 50 and 100 Ohm resistors (10 Watt). IIRC, 2 50s in parallel give you 25 ohm, correct? Can I stick these 2 50s on a 12V line leading to 3 of these fans? I don't think so, but I am a wishfull thinker on drugs...

not quite, but the design is incredibly close. The sides are too straight and there is no reinforcement on the ends. It will be interesting to see how well the ducting works.

Papst fans - are they not supposed to be quiet?

I think that's good enough, I'll be reducing the number of fans as well (to 3 from 5) hopefully keeping it under 30dB total. This is a really simple server config, and shouldn't require all those fans in such a spacious and well-designed case (in an air conditioned server room). I'll be...

''State Of The Art'' CPU Cooling (Circa Dec 2003)

The Barton 2500+ is (IMHO) the "no duh" of computer processors. It's incredibly cheap, remarkably available, and virtually guaranteed to be stable @ 11x200 (3200+ speed). I've used about 8 of them now, and they've all hit that no problem. It's to the point where when someone buys something else...

Yes, I made sure beforehand that it would be mounted in their server room (full of 50+ servers) and they insist that mine stands out as the loudest. This seems fine for our application, the total expected load is <2000 hits spread out randomly over a 6-10 month period. I think the likelyhood of someone clicking at the exact same time is fairly unlikely. In the (slightly more likely) event that someone attemps to click on an item after it...
