    Memory Question

That is the technology I was talking about. All the AMD S939 boards use it as well. AFAIK, there is no further advantage to using 4 slots versus just the one. Furthermore, if you use AMD, the efficience of it's memory controller makes even this overkill.

    Hinderburg, strike II.

Something that slow isn't going to win over passenger transportation, but cargo is certainly a possibility. And I would very much be interested in a sight-seeing trip on one; a "cruise" around the world, showing all kinds of wonders in a week would be a nice trip.

    Memory Question

2-512MB sticks, no question. I don't know of any benchmarks that say 4-way interleaving is any better than 2-way. Considering a price/performance ratio, 512MB sticks are on their way out these days; consider 2x1GB.

MS continues to hate consumers and hobbyists

I actually really like this idea. Granted, it gives us less control and gives MS more money (both things that we are fundamentally against), but it does make a certain kind of sense.

I'm still really liking my current home fileserver. Coolermaster stacker case filled with Supermicro Hotswap SATA racks. After swapping the fans out with quieter ones and dynamating the inside, it runs quiet enough.

    Custom Computer Chassis

I've built quite a few custom chassis. There might even be some links here (or at SPCR). Mostly designed to be larger and really, really quiet. I've build all mine of wood, all based on an existing motherboard tray. Of course, for this you chould just slot-mount them. As a warning: my first...

Yes, custom steel backplate attaching to a custom plastic frame on the MB. Basically it causes the AMD to look like a P4, so the 4-point clip can work for both. Really easy.

Nexus it is, though the stock fans in a P180 set to "low" work incredibly well and are nearly as quiet. I currently have my A64 running at 2.76Ghz with a Ninja and the forementioned fans on "low" - no fans attached to the Ninja at all.

Low importance is a relative term I guess. In many of my companies, many of the departments run software that "requires" it's own server (in other words, they are whiny about sharing server space with other apps). In some cases this is for good reason (like not changing the name of your SQL...
