    Anyone use freeNAS

I've looked at and considered several packages like this. My reasoning is as follows: 1. I'm not a linux guy, I might not be able to save my data if thhings go wrong. 2. I, and my clients, have all the MS licencing we need. This wouldn't save us any money. 3. I have not seen any evidence that...

Sucks about the house. Fortunatly, the house is my GF's, so I don't need to worr about that. Not sure where I'm going to move; I'd love to find ~600sq.ft. with a bathroom and a shower.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

I use an application designed for the purpose called CyberCafe Pro. The user never sees the standard UI, Instead only seeing their screen with a menu of approved apps on it. Login is dependant upon authentication with a server that has a database of users. This is significant overkill for a...

    I made a few changes...

There are quite a few things I like (this quickreply is great). I'm confident that some mods to the skin will resolve the other complaints, which seem to be: 1. I not used to feature x, remove it so no-one can use it ever. 2. Feature x used to be here, and now it's there...I'm confused.

Forum complaints / problems to fix master list

I'm just confused why quick reply requires a button push at all. I should be able to read a thread, scroll to the bottom, then type in a response and hit "post". I don't understand the extra button.

PC Gaming = World of Suck

For the record, I've been sinking amazing amounts of time into "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion". It is really, really fun. I haven't enjoyed a game this much since, hell it's been a long time. Easily 150+ hours of gameplay, beautiful graphics, very involved storyline, huge flexibility on your...

    Room heating solutions...

Blades are incredible in their power density. I'm using 1U Dual-Dual-Core Opterons these days, even half a rack full of these will need it's own AC unit.

Interesting. I rip in IFO mode and grab just the movie, would this still be a problem? What does it look like in DVDDecrypter when you find one of these disks?

How to tell which type of key I have for XP Pro?

It's a PITA. At this point I have a way around it that involves rebooting in safe mode, changing the permissions of it's DLL, then rebooting again. It's not that big a deal, I'm just bummed that the VLKs a friend hooked me up with have now been reported. :(

    Ripit4me

I rip in DVD Decrytper and then compress in XviD, so no need for DVD Shrink. I'm sad to see that development in AutoGK has stopped though.

How to hide a partition in WinXP.

Quite a while ago I saw a key-switch that would switch between two IDE drives, I can't find it now, but it sounds like the perfect ticket (doing it in hardware is more reliable than in software)

    Yay! I installed Fedora...now what?

Half an hour for the install, half an hour for the updates, half an hour for to add/remove apps, half an hour to update the UI and config apps, then trying to move my thunderbird config over. Not fun.

I'd like to keep my linux build and move it to my new computer. I got tired of messing with the little toaster that wished it could and build myself a better machine. I like the "revisited" skin except you got rid of the quickreply button! MP3 - related utilities

These tools simply make identifying and correcting tags easier. For me, it's mostly about ripping CDs I have that aren't in the CDDB (tango imported from Buenos Aires, etc) and these tools make naming them after a bulk rip much easier. But I can also see their use if you have aquired significant...

I'm surfing at 1920x1280 at the moment and it looks great :P The user bar on the right could be a bit smaller; I've already shrunk my avatar, removed the IM links, and removed the "age" line from the display in an attemp to shrink it. It is a dificult balance, though. I like the information it...

There's a drop-down at the bottom called "Foum Jump" that does all the navigation. Well, the sun is quickly setting on my current attempts at Linux. It's really almost there! AT&T's new Privacy Policy

5% survival rate would be a 20:1 kill ratio, correct? Look at it this way, if we sort by highest income than we could do without SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Unemployment, Welfare and all those other support-the-lazy/incompetent services while not damaging out tax base! *runs*

I have a Brother 7820N that I like. USB or Ethernet interface (useful if you have more than one computer). Nice laser printer, good scanner with ADF, and simple fax with a few autodial slots. Software isn't too troublesome, though it is a memory hog.
