Actually Mark, that looks like a nice board for my needs. The reason I was asking for more PCI slots is because my video card has an oversised heatsink that draws from the bottom. I only have one PCI card (X-Plosion sound card), but it effectively blocks off my video card's intake. Having the...
Yes! That's the one I used to use, but newegg doesn't carry it anymore. They only carry the SLI boards and an actively cooled one. I loved the 8 SATA ports and dual GigE on this board.
Do you have a recomended vendor where it is available?
I've built a custom lighting enclosure using daylight flourescent bulbs. I have some highly reflective stuff that I think is Mylar, and I'd love to simply wrap it around the back of the bulbs to use as a reflector. However, I know the ballasts jack the voltage up to the tens of thousands of...
My favorte watch to date was the least bulky. It was a Swatch...let me see if I can find it...nope, of course they've discontinued it. It was close to this one:

The watch itself is as thin as the band (1-2mm) and weighs almost nothing. The one I had...
Eh, It's warmer now...the heater likely won't go on again for another month or two.
The climate here is kinda weird. Summer and Winter are both nice and sunny with warm days (70s and 80s). Spring and Fall are a bit cooler with fog and overcast (50s and 60s). That's the extent of our seasons. I...
$600 Rigs are easy...they just aren't Core 2 Duo. Stick with a X2 3800+ (or a 3600+ if you can find one). If you can keep it S939 as opposed to AM2 you can use the (cheaper and faster) DDR vs. DDR2. Good motherboards with decent onboard video for $100-$130, dual-core CPU for $150. Not a problem...
Congrats on the gig Adcadet!
On another note; I'm just about to do another system build. "Hm" I think "everyone is talking about how competitive Intel's new chips are, let's have a look".
They start at nearly $200. $200? WTF? I haven't bought a chip (for someone else) that cost more than $200...
I just went to install on my new system (old one fried) and it seems to have borked my FF install. I must admit I was doing some sketchy OC'ing at the time, but now I have no extensions and it killed my profile. Recognising I was likely the cause with my OC+undervolt combo, I tried to re-install...
Damn...I almost hit the "I want one" button, and I have absolutely no need for this card. The slowest gaming system I have (hooked to a 19" LCD) already has an OC'd X1600 on it; with X850s, X1800s, and 7900GTs all around...but this is such a good deal...
BF2 Works fine....looks like it is a RoN issue. I bought the "Gold Edition" today; it includes the expansion pack, and is updated to the point where all the new updates can only be downloaded from inside the game...kinda useless for me.
I'm having problems getting the ATI driver to work. I've tried both the "full" and "driver only" versions, and I've turned up the acceleration to full. I have DX9.0c and my display settings are 1280x1024x32.
When I try to run Rise of Nations it says it won't run in 256-color mode(!)
When I...
I don't use tents. I have a liner for my sleeping bag that is waterproof; and with that the bag is comfortably warm when covered in snow. When I go backpacking I usually get away with just a daypack. If my car is nearby; I sleep there. Very few tents are as easy to set up (or as comfortable, or...
For now I've just set the drive aside and done a temp install on another drive. I will at some point attempt to do a recovery of it. BIOS detects it fine, as does Linux when booted to the CD. But it can't be mounted, and it can't be accessed. We'll see what I can do when I have more time.
I'm sure it is, I just hate having to re-install everything. I just threw in a 160GB drive I had sitting around and am installing TinyXP Beast Edition on it...we'll see how it goes.
Well, whatever happened, the hard drive is completely toast. The rest of the system seems fine, but a 300GB Seagate SATA HDD is no more (along with my primary computer's OS, Apps, settings, games, etc.)
:sob:
I agree with your reasoning on the RAM speeds, and would further mention that 4600+ CPUs are significant overkill. 3800+ is more than sufficient. Touching back on our upgrade thread earlier this week, planning on upgrading typically is silly. What upgrades have you made to the current systems in...
This is the stock suspension of my Volkswagen Golf, so I don't think anything in the suspension is "too hard"...yet ;)
Cornering way too hard? Yeah, probably. Stock, this car ships with 185/60-15 economy tires so I've upped the footprint just a bit. Now it's time to figure out what I can to to...
Well, this one killed my system to the point where it won't even get to safe mode anymore.
I know I'm jumping the gun to blame SpeedFan; but this system gets rebooted daily and has been sable for weeks. I installed speedfan and ran it, the screen never updated and very quickly locked the entire...
Good job Handruin. I've done a brake swap before and it was no fun. On the '97 Neon the front pads shattered and buried the rivets into the disks...oops.
Now that I just finished putting 17x8" racing wheels and 225/45-17 Pirellis on my car, the brakes are on the list...right after I do...
The P150 is also a great case. The PS it ships with is nice and the case is well thought out, but it's not a full-tower case. It isn't cramped for my needs, but you may want to put more stuff in yours.
Sounds like a network is in dire need. The take one of the decent machines with USB ports and make it a part time/full time server, put all the printers off it and pool them (not to handle load, just in case they break - unplug the offending printer and try again). Hit up the local ISP for a...
I really like the P180. Don't worry about noise, put the fans on "low" and you won't hear them. The door swivels 270-degrees back to the side of the case so you never have to see it again.
In other words, I've never encountered an issue, and that's with a really high-end soundcard (ask Merc) and really nice speakers. Digitally perfect? Maybe not, but I've never had any reason to doubt it.
