    I hate where this country is, and I hate most of the people in it. What I like about this country is the fact that the odds are high that it will change; and change without civil war.

    mubs! What's up? Mark's post was clearly done in the same vein as my own, a good-natured and dirty play on words, just taken a bit further. If you aren't up for that kind of thing <cringe>, just let us know and I'll clean it up a bit.

    Crash course in HTML

    I threw this together in the last few minutes for a friend. If you have input that would be great. I don't want it any longer or more complicated than what it is, but if there are errors or clarifications that would be fab. Summary: Web pages are made of a bunch of HTML files and some...

    3.5 years, 111k miles, haven't done more than oil, wiper and tire changes since 20k (original brakes, original clutch, etc). The only warrantee work done was the static part of the passenger door latch came loose. Fixed without appointment and without any paperwork in 2 minutes. I think I'll...

    Surveillance Camera Capture Software

    The card and cameras are already there; part of the last IT guy's clusterf*ck. They will almost certainly never use it. Primarily it is so the boss can watch from home. Even if I'm only capping 1fps per (motion activated) camera, it shouldn't be an issue. The other tasks are very lightweight...

    Building out a resteraunt. They already have all the cameras and the PCI-based capture card. The system will be running XP Pro or Server 2003 (haven't decided yet). I need software that can monitor/record 8 cameras. If it has a web server that would be awesome, high-level compression would be...

    80mm ->92mm convertor + fan == better temps?

    This heatsink has really amazing thermal capabilities. I'm overclocking/overvolting up the wazoo while loading at 100% for hours on end and I don't have a fan mounted on the heatsink. Of course, I am using a P180 chassis with a pair of 120mm fans @ 500rpm in close proximity. P180 + SCNJ-1000 is...

    ISP detecting ICS

    The best response I could provide is "probably not". NAT is just what you've implied you think it is; sharing which is transparent to the parent network. A broadband router should do the same (most support MAC cloning on the WAN port). Of course, if they did full packet inspection on all your...

    I highly recomend the Scythe SCNJ-1000 with no fan. The problem with the size adapters it the backpressure reduces the airflow.

    I like the TinyXP releases, I have the "Beast" edition around here somewhere. But they stripped a few things I like (US Keyboard, default theme) and added some crap I don't (MSN Messanger). What a silly thought (it's passed now). One of the reasons I specifically stated stereo sound was my focus was because I wanted to concentrate on quality over number of channels. 1TB hard drive

    I suspect both the 3.5" and 5400RPM are independantly considered uncool these days. The only reason they all haven't gone to 2.5" is the race to 1TB; which would be a bit more difficult without the larger platters. I wouldn't mind an array of 9 2.5" 250GB SAS drives at 5400RPM. Are there any...

    Meh. Hard drives are not a source of energy, so I'm not particuarly worried. I've had chips/caps blow up in the past. The fact that an actual problem (laptop batteries made by sony) causes a non-problem (one hard drive's spectacular failure) to get press is just annoying.
