Erm, that's actually really close to a price I would buy at. I'm looking at the iRAM solutions; considering 2GB DIMMS are $250 a piece, and it would take 4 of them, plus the card itself to only get 8GB...that doesn't look bad at all. 16GB ($1200) would be plenty.
What is the performance...
I use dynamic disks for my fileservers. Spanned arrays seem to work fine, even after an OS rebuild I was able to re-import the drives. I also have a number of dynamic mirrors I use at clients without issue.
Keep your list of good passwords short and don't share them with anyone; including password management apps. Just don't; it's more secure than if you do.
PUI.
The mail itself is less of an issue. The calendar, contacts, and to-do lists are the most important. I've never seen anyone use so much in Outlook. Even if no mail was sent or recieved on the laptop it would be fine, so long as she could update and maintain the other things.
Hi,
My GF uses Outlook for everything and loves it. She has been using it on the desktop I built for her with her PST file stored on the server in the attic. Now I've bought her a laptop for use when she's on the road, and set up the built-in synchronization for all her files.
Unfortunatly, it...
Tonight was really difficult. I couldn't tell her; as our plans for the night were to go dancing in Palo Alto, where the instructor for the was class the "other woman". Therefore me telling her would have created way too much drama for me to deal with. The GF is going on a trip on Thursday; I...
I actually got to do this again today. A family has many computers; every time they buy a new "family" PC, the older one gets passed down for dedicated use by one of the kids. The 13 year old was complaining that his games were going slow. I told him that if he didn't use the internet it would...
Everything is fine; more than fine actually. This is something that should have happened months ago, except that I haven't had the nerve to go through with it. Breaking up with someone who is both beautiful and intelligent is a hard thing to do; particlarly when you can't really put your finger...
My attendance may be impacted in the very near future...if I have the balls I'll be homeless (and single) in the next few days.
Ended up having dinner yesterday with my shrink and my (soon to be divorced) next girlfriend...sometimes I think my story would make for good reading...
Because the 35W (and even the 65W) parts could clock much higher if they ran at the normal ~90W. Basically it's a part shortage of chips that are stable at the lower voltage.
I'll see if I can get one from last night. Posting pictures of beautiful women could be controversial, but if I'm in the picture than that provides the perfect excuse...
(I did a Tango performance at a fasion show in Pebble Beach last night)
Oh, believe me, I charge by the hour. Plus drive time with a 2 hour minimum. I just also yell at them for being stupid while I'm billing by the hour. I found that if I don't make it clear that it's their fault that they need to pay me again, they might think I did a poor job in the first place.
The fact that it is prompting for the recovery console at all is a strong indicator that you chose the first repair option, instead of the second. You do not want the recovery console. Re-read the instructions above; unless you have proceeded through the F8 prompt at the EULA, you are doing it...
Pretty cool, I think. I drive by it (an all the other tech company buildings) five times a week.
My favorite computer shop is one block from AMD's headquarters.
I installed ACT (latest version) on a new Server 2003 x64 server and am having all kinds of problems. Apparently it doesn't like the MSSQL backend. I've googled for stuff but no clear responses to the problem were evident. If anyone has an idea of where to start, I would appreciate it.
I know. I'm sorry. IMHO, if there isn't actual activity in a thread, it should work it's way down the list. Artificially sticky-ing a thread makes something that's not currently active seem as important as something that is, which it's not.
Hee....this forum seems to be the only constant; my life being a perpetual CKD. I change hobbies/friends/women/jobs/cities more often than some people reinstall their PCs.
I guess I'm trying to "ditto" i's comments...you guys are a great resource for more than just 1337 geek knowledge, you also...
That's the motherboard that I'm planning on getting for my new machine. I plan on using an X2 4200+ (65W) with it. There's theoretically a super-low power version of the 3800+ (35W, IIRC), but I haven't seen it for sale anywhere.
It's funny you should say that Merc. Every time I build a decent machine for someone else it gets an X2 because that is the thing to get; every time I build a gaming rig for myself I get a single-core 4000+, because deep down, I know I'm not a power user.
That's an interesting problem, handruin. Have you tried the Omega drivers, or an older set? I don't have this problem on my 7900GTs, 1900XTXs, or 1600XT.
I agree sechs. I have my SATA drives in internal hotswap enclosures, connected via SATA to real, independant SATA channels, in a real computer, connected to GbE. It's really not that much more expensive.
IIRC, 12v is used for hard drives. Nothing else really matters; as if it fails you can just replace it then, but the one thing that matters is indeed running on sketch power. If you have a half-assed PSU sitting around, I'd offer to swap it.
Perhaps offer to check the plumbing as well?
The most drastic move I've made was to take someone off the internet. No joke. They were the receptionist for a client, and their duties didn't require internet access. They crashed their computer weekly, despite countless warnings. One day I brought the computer back to them after (yet another)...
Merc: When was the last time your computer was unintentionally infected by something nasty?
What task do users need to do that will cause them to be infected? It's not like the flu; "bad luck" has nothing to do with it.
If they are infected, it means they screwed up. I treat an infected...
For the record, planning a laptop with specs similar to what I'm pursuing from Alienware, Dell, or Lenovo leads to a price well above $3000.
