    Yay! I installed Fedora...now what?

OK, FC6 seems very slow for a desktop OS; especially when compared to ubuntu. I was even able to get the VMWare Tools installed, but it seems that I need to run it every time? Is there a startup folder somewhere?

    More Vista nonsense

From what I've heard 2007 is a major change from 2003. Notice I didn't say improvement. I've heard that OO looks more familiar to 2003 users than 2007 does. That is a tempting change...thoughts?

Nope, no pirate versions for me. I make each of my clients (~20) maintain an MSDN subscription for testing/dev purposes and licensing wiggle-room. This means I have keys to spare.

    How to convey an idea

So you're putting up a double standard. Someone needs to make themselves visible to be seen by others, and you refuse to do it, putting the burden solely on them. Don't you think that people you are interested in (and would be interested in you) are also not willing to put themselves out there...

I did it from the ISO, downloaded from MS' website, mounted using the VMWare client configuration. It should think that it is a physical disk.

    More Vista nonsense

The one I got from my MSDN subscription, it says that it will install the appropriate version based on the CD_Key I give it, but I didn't get to enter a key yet. So....all of them?

Did anyone else have problems installing Vista Final into a VMWare Server? After clicking "install now", it says something about "A required CD/DVD device driver is missing" and to insert a driver disk. Anyone?

    How to convey an idea

You're missing an important part. You don't have to select them, they select you, too. It makes no difference that 90% of the women there aren't interested, it wouldn't work with them anyway. But by putting yourself out there and being visible, people have the opportunity to select you.

    How to convey an idea

Women tend to gather at places where money is spent; Malls, Bars, etc. Also any place that seems excessively healthy; Spas, Gyms*, health clubs, etc. As a matter of fact, if you set yourself up to get healthier through any of the group-based methods (weight watchers, yoga, gym, whatever), I'm...

    Network trouble

My complaints with it stem from where it is located and how little it says about what it does before doing it. On a number of occasions I've had users in medium-sized companies attempt to bring in a laptop from home and think that "Share my internet connection" is exactly what they need to make...

    How to convey an idea

Merc, When I worked that much, I always ended up with co-workers. VNC and security

Not worthwhile is a subjective thing. There are at least 2 completely unsecured APs around me, if I have any security at all than no-one will bother. If I was the only AP around, I'd be more worried.

    How to convey an idea

I'll second Chewy on the crappiness of V-Day. It, and my other holidays, are designed by corporations to cause more consumerism. Women, who seem blind to consumerism, still feel some degree of authenticity however and therefore apply pressure to guys to cave to the desires of the corporation...

21% deceased isn't that high a percentage, really. Tony might back me up on this (or jump down my throat ;)) but this kind of thing has significant outliers (think asymmetrical bell curve). I'm much younger than you, and I would bet that it's already in the double digits percentage wise.

Install IE 7, not for browsing but for safety?

If I were to exploit machines, I would focus on people that are more lax about updates. Not only does this mean I could use an older exploit, but that the user would be less likely to notice. You also must consider that MS will EOL IE6 sometime soon, and then you will need IE7 to be patched at all.

Sol, I can't think that that is right. Placing so much significance on a single (the lowest) value could potentially really screw up the average. IIRC, one of the reasons for choosing Median instead of Mean or Mode was to prevent outliers from having a significant impact on the calculation.
