What do you think of this roof?

Sol, Although this windshield is bigger, it doesn't include electronics of any kind; it's just a big piece of glass. How often do people around here replace windshields, anyway? I've replaced one in a decade, and it was my mother's fault.

Good thinking/planning Bozo. I've been thinking of building a house for quite some time now (floor plans all over my desk for years) and have always thought of 2x6 walls and sound/thermal insulation as obvious value-added things. I was just wondering where such things were standard.

I guess I trained myself too well in the days of limited RAM. I close everything when I'm not using it. Very rare is the time that my taskbar is full; I typically have about 2-3 programs open at any one time. Considering I now have 4GB of RAM, I know it's unnecessary, but such habits are hard to...

And to go against the crowd even more, I'm already beginning to like Vista. On both my machines it seems faster, and runs smoother. Apps do launch faster (especially Firefox, which I am in and out of all day), and I haven't noticed any slower performance in gaming. Of course my computers aren't...

Does anyone else have a case of deja-vu? I recall feeling the same about XP; it does the same stuff a little differently, and the things that it is better at I can do without. Besides, why learn a different way of doing things when you don't have to. One of the things that made XP "worth it"...

Yes. Practically all things that use electricity and don't have moving parts convert nearly 100% of their energy into heat. Computers, light bulbs, resistive heaters, whatever.

An inconvienent Truth and Global warming

I think this is the bigger point. Relying on things we can't make ourselves is a risk we shouldn't be taking. Global warming won't threaten the USA significantly for at least another 50-100 years, our dependence on foreign oil will make us vulnerable long before that.

For the record, no flash drive that is visible when empty can be used for readyboost. It needs to be a device that appears and disappears entirely. Generals is a really good RTS as far as balance, tactics, and level design go. But after playing Supreme Commander, I'm going to be really spoiled; this is the best UI I've seen in an RTS. There are a few small points of suckyness, but they are few and far between.

I'm only on the second mission, but I see your point. What I'm doing is trying to optimize for time. If I were willing to make each mission last for hours, victory would be easy. I think they need to do something to "force" the game forward.

sechs, it's the video card and the number of drives that are going to really up the consumption I think. I would have put in an Antec NeoHE 550W, but bigger is better with this crowd. I've found modular cables in P180s to be a must. Theres simply too much opportunity for spare cables to foul the mid-mounted fan, or just obstruct airflow in the tunnel. I think there is more to the story than that. Because the E4300 is designed to use a lower FSB, it allows a higher multiplier value. Because of this higher multiplier value, turning the FSB up to the same as an E6300 gives you a healthy overclock while still keeping everything else within spec.
