Moving a RAID-0 to another motherboard?

I'm going to be upgrading my motherboard from a Gigabyte 6100-based AM2 board to a Gigabyte 570-based AM2 board and would like to keep my OS array (Raptors in RAID-0). What are the chances of this happening successfully?

All that I learned about dating I got from old movies. I still open doors and tuck in chairs for women. All doors/chairs for all women, always. I try to speak just enough to keep the conversation going; it's not my job to drive the conversation, but it is my job to stop it from dying. Pay as...

Lunar, This is a great neighborhood. This is the first shooting here for 7 years. It just happened to be 4 months after we moved in and 10 feet from our front door. The person who did the shooting rode their bicycle 10 miles to get here and shoot up the place. I can discount it fairly easily...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

I really enjoyed Supreme Commander. Test Drive Unlimited is a very fun way to waste massive amounts of time, and Rainbow Six: Vegas was also quite pleasing. Though I suspect I'll be going back to SimGolf soon; it is just so peaceful.

I've been too lazy to do that for the last several months. I got a 7.1 system and the rear/side 4 speakers are still sitting on top of my front L&R channels.

    Personal Dilemma

My exercise today left me feeling pretty euphoric. Went out for a Sailboat race; during the race conditions built until it was blowing 15 knots from the east and gusting to 40 knots from the south. We also had two sets of swells that when combined in just the right (wrong?) way, caused 20+ foot...

    Video Cards 2007

I'm running a 7950GT/512MB and am considering upgrading. It can't handle the games I'm playing now @ 1600x1200 with the eye candy turned on. Is the 8800GTS what I should be looking at? I have a passively cooled card now, and would love another without a fan; is there one?

Quiet tower case for 8+ HDDs?

Those do look nice Merc. How do you think they compare to the heatpipe ones made by Zalman? The last time I had a drive array in a quiet computer, I removed the drive rack completely and suspended some drives mounted in these; it actually worked pretty well.
  19. ddrueding

Quiet tower case for 8+ HDDs?

It's ATX, but the motherboard is upside-down; this keeps the GPU heat from rising into the CPU cooler and puts the hot components of any expansion cards facing up, so it isn't trapped under the cards. I think it's a good idea.

New video card doesn't like OC

I'm running a 7950 (see sig) and occasionally it will post to the wrong video out. If I have my projector turned on, I can see that it just decided to use that one instead of both. It still comes back after the desktop has loaded, but until then the screen is black.

Quiet tower case for 8+ HDDs?

I'm getting rid of my 2TB TeraStation in favor of returning to local storage; it's too slow even over GbE and has a disquieting rumble on a ~1s interval that is most annoying. I can agree with that. I could even agree that the flags at all military bases be at half-mast for the duration of the war; considering it is a sad state of affairs. I just want them to shut up on the news about it already. Being drafted, or having non-voluntary soldiers die, is certainly a...

OEM software copies are available, and for about the same as the retailers charge; one way or another it isn't a significant difference. If you like your family and are able to support them, you should build them yourself. If they are too far for house calls, send them to Dell.

Mark brings up another point (I don't mean to derail too much); are there any small system builders in your areas that you would recommend? All the "small shop" machines I run across have PC-Chips motherboards in them or mega-flimsy plastic cases with windows and multi-colored lights.

I recommend Dell a lot. Of all the vomit boxen, I consider them the least vommit-ish. They are particularly nice if you format and re-install the OS only, then get the latest drivers from the website. I do this for all the clients that I don't actually want to support; either they are far away...

    Quiet 120mm fan

Yeah, I liked the looks of it as well. My only concern was how it's size would impede the airflow of the exhaust fans, and the airflow to the GPU. I have a passively cooled 7950GT, and it gets fussy if there is no airflow over it.
