    Microsoft Spying???

Just leaving the door open wouldn't be enough; most of us have other "doors" between our workstations and an outside IP (firewalls, NAT, etc). It has to be something sent from the OS out. Has anyone done a study to find all the traffic that a stock OS sends out? It would be interesting to see...

    Office Chair

I don't use footrests because my position is constantly changing, my desk it 8' long. The seat bottom would be slightly too high in front, if it weren't for the tilt forward feature, which (when combined with the lumbar support) puts the back nicely vertical and supported at the same time.

Aeron just arrived. Assembly was easy. I got all the options, including the new adjustable lumbar support (that my old one didn't have) and the large-diameter wheels that roll through thick carpet quite easily. I've only spent about 20 minutes in it so far, and I need to drive south and pick up...

    MP3 Player (what to buy)?

I suppose my views on the interface are biased. I know the menus, and I know the control wheel. I can operate any iPod while it is in my pocket or while drivng without thinking about it. Although you may not be able to do that now, it is inherent in the interface that you could at some point...

As has been stated in other threads here, you don't need iTunes to use an iPod. In fact, I think anyone would be a fool to install software written by Apple on their PC. Ephpod. Get it, use it, love it. ;)

Should There be a Ban on Incandescent Lamps?

Keep swiping. We're just entering fall here, and we get quite a bit of overcast before noon. In order to overcome this, I have the CFL equivalent of 1200W of lighting in my living room (5m x 3m) and would love more. My kitchen (3m x 2m?) has 3 120W equivalent bulbs in it, and I love it. It's...

They just need to do what the farmers around here need to do; automate the process. If they can get a production line down to 100 skilled technicians, they can pay them whatever they want.
