    I did a 38" plasma a few years ago. The dot-pitch sucked. I don't know about current models, though.

    They stated in the review that the model tested was intended for industrial applications. It's not a speed demon, that's for sure.

    More Vista nonsense

    Overblown. It took a device driver update and a major hardware change (video card) to cause deactivation. And as anyone whose done it knows, phone activation is painless and takes less than 2 minutes. It is MS' fault? Yes. Is it a big deal? No.

    Nope. It's in a city, and it's been about 70F for weeks now. But it's starting to get colder at night (55F?). Can't stand roommates, so that is out. The house is only about 1000sq.ft.; my parent's house has an addition that makes all the difference. This house would be essentially gutted and...

    It is a good deal, especially if I can talk him down to $280k-ish. The interior is good except for the kitchen; I hate tile. The floor, counter tops, and cabinets are functional; but I would replace them anyway. I'd likely do Pergo in the kitchen and living room to facilitate dancing. Vaulted...

    Thanks for the encouragement, Chewy. Fortunately for us, the housing market is in a crash right now; the place we just looked at is listing for 30% under what it sold for in 2002. Of course, that is still in the sticks, a major "fixer-upper", and it's still $460k. The other place we looked at...

    :p Thanks. It's actually just the right size for video games when sitting forward (captures peripheral vision) and good for reading when sitting back (all right in front of me). When I first put it on the desk I thought "shit, too big". But now I'm thinking "darn, a 50" would have fit"!

    I haven't had this many problems sleeping in years. When I was in High School, I'd give up trying to sleep at around 2 AM and take huge walks around town for hours. When I was doing the .com thing I would just go to work, it motivated the staff knowing that the boss was working 15 hour days...

    Favourite TV series

    Yup. When I was a kid, thats what I would watch when I was sick. It would take 2 days while the parents were at work to finish it. If I was sick longer than that, I did the original BBC version of Hitchhiker's Guide.

    OCR forms -> Conditional formatting?

    OCR forms -> Conditional formatting?

    Sorry for the confusion. Some are old-school carbon copies done on typewriter or dot-matrix, some are printed out of DOS programs or Windows. They all contain the same fields and the same information (e.g. "Supervisor: Bob Dole"), but the layout is different. All are hard-copies, so the first...

    Cell Phones and Serice Providers

    I think the phones need some more computing power before they can be as good as the computer programs, but those can handle accents. Even without learning, Vista's voice recognition was able to handle Russian, German, and Canadian accents quite well.

    Thanks for the tip, blakerwry. The 3 that looked most promising were Squidalyser, Squint, and SARG. Network Architecture thoughts

    I like this idea. The firewall in question is the beast mentioned in the "Something Random" thread, and could easily handle another GbE port and the involved routing. All the servers are on a dedicated bank of managed switches anyway, so additional hardware is a non-issue. Thanks for the idea.
