    Ghetto reporter.

I don't have a problem with it and I don't see how many else could, just a city boy getting attuned to nature. The broadcast agency would likely see things very differently, something to do with professional composure.

    New VMWare Server

For my software testing using a virtual PC here on my desktop machine is there any differences I need to know about or any neat new stuff that could help me out? I thought the old stuff they were giving away was perfect, don't know how much better it can get.

    Defrag outlook pst file

Woot, special day today: Just hit the 2gig file size limit on my archive folder. Time to move 2007 off this machine. Looks like I average 1gig a year. Man after you move the stuff to another PST file that compacting action takes forever...

    LCD monitor shipping

Depending on where they are I could live with it. For the past two years I have lived with some tape that was pealing off and casting a shadow from the backlight to the screen of my Samsung 204B and causing a dark yellow spot. It was all the way on the right side where the scroll bar is on apps...

    LCD monitor shipping

I guess I have to agree Tahnin, the last three or four monitors I have bought were perfect. BUT I simply am not going to buy a monitor from an on line store that has a policy of say 5 dead pixels before they will take it back and replace it. If I get one dead pixel near the center in the place...

    LCD monitor shipping

That's what I thought. I have one on ebay with all original packing and someone asked about reboxing for protection, sounded completely unnecessary to me but it will be insured anyway.

    LCD monitor shipping

Question for those that buy on line like from newegg or amazon: How do they ship the monitor? Do they just slap a label on it and ship it or do they rebox it? Monitors are about the only thing I insist on buying locally because of the dead pixel and return thing so I don't know.

    Windows Home Server

I think media center extenders and xbox360 can connect to it to play content on tv or stereo. That really opens up some uses for home environments that could potentially really use a lot of storage space.

How do short people see backwards-out car window?

That's weird, you have to look behind you? I don't understand that but I can think of many situations where you would have to do the same thing using only mirrors. I had to do something simmilar in hummer school in the service only we had to back 100 feet or so and keep the tire on a line. They...

PC Gaming = World of Suck

Oh and PA today has a nice little mention of the EA Spore copy protection fiasco. http://www.penny-arcade.com/ I actually like steam, it seems to solve more problems than it creates. You loose or damage your disks and you can just download the content. For download only content there is a...

What I find interesting with the Wii is that people who generally don't like gaming like it, like your parents or young children. Correct expensive shipping. They did send the headstart and open beta keys right away via email, but not instantly like I thought they would, no biggie. At any rate I had the codes well before open beta started so I was happy in that respect. I wish now I just had gone with one of the all...

Warhammer open beta was pretty neat, game seems "almost" mature enough for release. I am going to finding my way around for a LONG time, the world is HUGE, about 10x the territory in DAOC classic if I had to say. Even the beta with only tier 1 access seemed pretty large, I know I only got to...

    Free zip password brute utility

Anyone know of a decent free zip password brute utility? Found some of my old files on an old hard drive and I can't remember what I set back then. Tried a couple obvious ones from googling and they didn't work on the test archive that I set up with a known password so I think they were junk.

My company already banned chrome on company laptops citing security concerns, seems they already had problems with it. Funny thing is we use IE exclusively and they think that's fine security wise so they must have really had a wake up call with chrome if it's worse than IE6/7.

    The Nehalem Preview: Anandtech

We are on the way there but they need selling points other than green, and staying on top of the horsepower curve keeps products selling. I'm thinking by 2020 we can have a whole computer on one chip, multiple CPU, memory, video card, drive space all of it. Motherboards by then are just...

It's funny but our business just continues to deal with the crappy connection saying that's just the way it is. QOS won't help us at all as the phone is on the other side of a Cisco PIX 501 hardware VPN so the ISP can't see the QOS information anyway.

Games perform poorly with dual core AMD?

Thats my point, whats wrong with the platform drivers that you have to research and find a fix for your situation? The fix should be update related drivers, not find utilities patches or manual fixes.

My promise66 cards back in the day weren't hot swappable requiring a reboot to replace the disk, but they did rebuild in the background while you were running. I would have to think their new SATA based cards would allow hot swap, maybe even hot spare on the upper end ones but I don't have...
