According to Microsoft, XP Home will recognise and work on dual-core chips, as it does for Hyperthreaded processors. I presume that this may require an update, but, generally, no big deal. Fast user switching... is the first thing that I turn-off after a clean install.

While I always try to use my LCD's native resolution or integral dividends thereof, I've never noticed horrible display of another resolution when stretched to full screen. What exactly are you planning to display on the monitor?
