As long as you're under 3GB of physical RAM, there shouldn't be any problems. Above that, things could take a lot more effort. That said, I'm not clear that adding more RAM is going to resolve the paging issue that you describe. Windows goes through a lot of effort to page-out those...

I haven't heard anything either way, but, as I think about it, there are a boat load of programs that plug into the IE engine to display content, as well as provide web access. That's still a way in, even if you don't use IE directly.

I think that there's a little confusion here between input device and windowing system. This demonstration appears to be a Macintosh running some flavour of OS X. I was disappointed that this device did not appear to be able to determine the difference between different fingers on different hands.

The way I read it, they are leaving the consumer CD and DVD drive markets, which are highly commoditised. Money is made on cheap, not quality. It's not clear to me if they will continue in the OEM market for these, or if they will continue with other optical drives.

The BIOS is set to leave the computer off in case of failure. I have accidentally tested this before, and it does stay off. The computer is now the only device on this particular UPS, which has run well for some years.

I ran Memtest86+ for over ten hours last night. Went through 10.78 passes with cache on and ECC off: no errors. Any new ideas?

That's one of the first things that I turn off when I install Windows. Checked, and it's still off. No blue screens or errors in the system log.

Turned WU off. Computer is set to stay off in case of power outage. I don't know what a BIOS event recorder is. I've previously tested all of the memory with Memtest with no errors. Also know that this is ECC/registered memory.
