I'm curious what your heat sink is. Usually they go some distance underground, where the temperature is relatively constant. So, the outside temperature shouldn't have a major bearing on what the heat pump puts out.

Stereodude officially missed the point of this thread. Please open a new one if you wish to flog him. What can you do about it? Amazingly easy stuff like drive less and use energy efficient appliances. I do my part to encourage global dimming by spending most of my carbon on flying.

    Feb 2007 Gaming system spec

I don't know what you have running, but I used to run my dual processor system with a 430W PSU -- and that was back when I had 15k SCSI drives in the system. I'm sure that I could run it with a 350W or less PSU. The reason that I overwatt my power supply is to make it quieter. Although you're...

In my case, resetting the BIOS certainly has not made any difference is the umpteen times that I have done it. I still randomly get networking issues. I do keep a spare NIC around and have had to use it when the onboard was recalcitrant; but I don't like to pull my PCI-X bus down to 33MHz...

    80 Cores

The problems tend to have to do with (1) timing and (2) cache misses. Cache missed just tend to make stuff run far less well than is would on a single core. Timing issues are worse, as they can make the application screw up. Installing the AMD dual-core optimizer made a real difference in a...

From what I understand (and this is a bit tenuous), holographic storage currently sits between tape archives and online hard disk systems. Tannin, I think that you misunderstand the situation. If you want people to see what you're serving, then it behooves you not to block it. Stopping people who you consider to be valid users from utilising your website is not a solution. This is to say that a half-assed solution tends to...

The "firewall" runs in the hardware, the advantage of which is that you have "protection" from power-on. This means that, even though you don't install the software to control it, the "firewall" is still there. I have an option in my BIOS to turn it off, but then I get no network.
