    I was finally able to find the answer to this one. SATA 2 is supported in SAS 1.1. So my SAS 1.0 HBA only does SATA 1.0a, which isn't any better than my onboard controller.

    It seems to me that it's neither here nor there whether you ever change your IP address. If you've taken reasonable precautions to protect your network, there's little, if anything, that a change of address will do.

    Right, but this is a SATA drive, and SATA 3.0Gbps wasn't out when the current SAS standard (let alone the card that I have) was made.

    I was having problems with slow page load times in Firefox. I initially thought that maybe it was a DNS problem, or something that I had done to gum up the works. I read this page, turned off keep-alive, and all is solved. Can any of your webmonkeys explain what is going on?

    Yes. It's faster than any 15k drive that I've used, but it doesn't put them to shame. Some couple-generation back 2.5" Fujitsu. If anyone is interested, it's for sale.

    Quark's development time is so glacial, I thought that they were just a niche product for newspapers stuck in the nineties. A new version of FrameMaker came out recently. I thought it was dead, too. But PageMaker... that's really done.

    I get the vibe that Virtual Box is more comparable to VMware server rather than workstation. There are some key ease-of-use features that drove me to pay for workstation rather than using server for personal use.

    Summit uses a Samsung controller. Vertex uses an Indilinx controller. From what I can tell, the difference in performance and price is not large.

    Tell that to Intel, which region-locks their WiFi cards in the firmware. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like Broadcom posts their drivers on the websites. It looks like I just need to make changes to the drivers, but I have yet to figure out what those changes are.
