Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

I'm sure that there's plenty of space if you pick the right lamp. As the ballasts can be bulky, that can really be a hinderance. It's bizarre that refrigerators still use those little appliance bulbs.

Understandably, your view of the situation is biased. Your clients don't need you to have a Blackberry; they need you to be extremely responsive. Any cell phone could do that. You are the one who wants them to use e-mail; therefore you think that you need a Blackberry in order to be responsive.

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

They're brighter at lower wattage. They also come in daylight, rather than just sickening yellow. If LEDs weren't so stinkin' directional, I'd use them instead, as they take the cold better and produce even less heat.

If you're buying cheapies, I think that 2 to 3 years is a reasonable life under real use conditions. I think that there's something to be said for buying higher quality CFLs. They really do last longer when used in my fridge.

It's 19 years, and, if you use the bulb the way that they describe, you should get reasonably close. I, for one, don't use lights as most manufacturers rate their lamps. Yet, even my cheap CFLs last a year in the refrigerator.

System clock loses time like crazy.

If the computer is on all of the time, then the battery isn't the problem. Windows keeps time using interrupts. It syncs to the system clock, however. Do you have appropriate processor and chipset drivers installed? Does the computer lose time when off?

SSDs - State of the Product?

So, how does it know that a block is partially written if it doesn't know that some of the data has been deleted? Recall that clusters are simply marked deleted in the file system metadata -- no actual change to the data is made. Unless the drive reads the metadata, then it doesn't know that...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Perhaps something called diskpart, which comes with Windows? The theory is that you want to align the file system clusters with the erase blocks. I think it's important to understand that not only must flash memory be erased before rewritten, but they have a minimum block of data that they must write. So, if you change part of a write block, the good data must be read, the entire block erased, and the data written, some of which was...
