With a small amount of traffic, running a webserver or other services, should be no problem and not draw any attention to you. Can't think of anyone here not running some services from their home computers... And as far as I have heard atleast here in Finland this has not been a problem. Just...

    Email and networking issues

My boss and a few other friends use smoothwall, seems to be ok and not too demanding to set it up. I'd recommend trying it. And IMAP as Mercutio said would be a good. I would however suggest, if possible, to tunnel the unencrypted IMAP traffic through a SSH tunnel or something similar. VPN? IPSEC?

No, I haven't tried setting the clients up with a proxy. It's a firewall blocking the 8080 traffic. But the existing clients work ok, but the new ones can't connect. With the new ones I'm referring to new or old versions of the clients getting installed on a computer. Weird...

I've tried to switch the client mid-protein, and also after deleting all files/subfolders. As for the mid-protein switching, it hasn't generated any problems so far for me. The problem with 3 computers is that they can't connect to the servers when only port 80 is available. So right now I'm...
