Doug, I've noticed there was a wave of 1D MK IIIs everywhere last week including the usual places, so I believe the backorders are fullfilled. If the AF is dsyfunctional as is common with the 1D MK III, will you lose 15% in returning it for a refund, or will Newegg keep replacing it?

Intel proposes new interface for Flash devices

Maybe that will be so on a notebook or a simplistic desktop system, but it still takes a lot of time to detect all the hard drives and arrays on all the controllers in an advanced system for heavy users. I doubt that there will be 10TB snap-in memory modules very soon. ;)

    Cool ('green') Car

That is realistic? How many consumers need (or can afford) tiny race cars? The prices should be $30K or less to sell in quantity. Recharging pure electric vehicles is not practical for a high percentage of drivers, not to mention all the other problems of supporting power generation and...

My low end Canon DSLRs like the 20D/30D and various Rebels have quite mediocre viewfinders. OTOH, my 1Ds MK IIs and 1Ds, etc. before that have better viewfinders for glasses and are close to 100% frame accurate.

I am searching for a 2-drive eSATA enclosure that is not more than ~ 125mm (5") in height (110mm is ideal). Other requirements are a font power switch and a quiet fan. I don't want an expensive, bulky enclosure with removable drive bays and a ton of blinking lights. Thanks.

    Colour Laser for Photos

I have not seen anything very good from color lasers. Perhaps they have changed, but the gamut and gradations were not so good in the darker areas. Paper was the primary limitation. Do they print on glossy RC paper yet and maintain detail in the dark areas?

    Should we ban disposable batteries?

No f*cking way! There are far too many uses for primary batteries, which can often outlive the usefulness of the device at 3 -10 years. Lithium ion, nickel and other rechargeable cells are already used where appropriate. It is bad enough that entire devices are now rendered disposable due to...

Which cam/lens for flowers? LM,Tan, ed, Handy?

You have a few options, primarily use a Tilt lens (Canon currently makes 24/45/90 mm TSE, Nikon an 85 mm) or software that merges multiple images to artifically enhance DOF. The latter works best with quite stationary subjects. I'm not at my computer, and therefore have no links.

After a few days or a week there is not much difference in capacity, so the Eneloops are better if you don't shoot frequently. In the 580EX the capacity is less than the conventional 2.7 AH cells as expected. I have not compared results in the 580EX II since there is no easy way to determine...
