SSDs - State of the Product?

I meant, can I use double sided foam tape or something of the sort? There are no screws or holes in the case to mount it like a hard drive.

In practice, 100%. I see the images on screen when working with them, but the end "user" sees the print. That part is not different from the darkroom days. Images shown on the web are at a substantially reduced resolution, so sharpness and noise, etc. are not a concern. In fact many people...

SSDs - State of the Product?

It should work on any SATA controller, but SATA II is needed for good performance. I'm getting sustained reads of 240-250 MB/sec (some fluctuations) and writes of 200-205 MB/sec. The latter is a pleasant surprise since the write specs in the datasheet indicate only 170MB/sec. However, 200+...

Just one! It is the single most expensive hard drive for me since the original Atlas 10K. I'm not made of money like so many IT people. I'm glad to have waited for several years until a truly high performance SSD existed. Now I am hoping to get a couple of good years of use from it. I only...

There is another reason why most legitimate businesses do not want employees to keep anything of value at work. Your private property is probably not covered by their business insurance. It is interesting, but limited to an OS supported by the drivers. Perhaps one of those and an SSD would be a good combination. That X-25E sure is enticing. What is the current consensus opinion of Intel? Will their SDD drive be reliable enough to use for a few years?

We use UPS to ship hundreds of millions of dollars of high-value goods per year, with minimal problems. The nice part about UPS is that they have such a range of integrated services, not just the shipping, e.g., depot storage, logistics, import/export (incl. restricted regulated materials)...
