I have four of those, now relegated to the great pile of unused drives. That drive is particularly smooth and quiet, but not fast.

Heh, you probably don't think it was wise to buy the 32GB X25-E last year for $650 either. :mrgrn:

New computer build for Photoshop CS3 usage.

Never mind - I understand now. Damn, I should have gone with more RAM. :) Are there any 4GB DDR2 modules that don't cost an arm and a leg? For the OP: More RAM is much better if very large/complex files are involved, which appears to be the case. Regardless of the amount of RAM the...

If you have a medical condition, are overweight, are aged over 40 years or haven’t exercised regularly in a long time, see your doctor for a medical check-up before starting any new exercise program.

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

I tried Samsung once and the warranty was rejected. I assumed that was due to it being an OEM drive, but I did not follow up.

Do they sell drives with US warranty now?

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

That does not increase capacity as much, not to mention the economics of a RAID controller. :o Alternatively one could split the 2TB drive. I also noticed the WD15EADS (1.5TB) drive listed this weekend at a more reasonable cost/GB ratio.

    Hard Disk for Thinkpad R51

That would be the 250GB WD. I bought a couple of them. The performance increase over a 120GB drive, for example, is quite noticeable. However, many older notebooks suffered from the dreaded 128GB LBA limit even long after the issue had been resolved on desktop systems. If the notebook was...

New computer build for Photoshop CS3 usage.

My 8GB XP64 system can use at most 3255MB in CS3/CS4 vs. 2786MB in CS2. The 64 bits of CS4 is not doing anything special in routine use that I have noticed. CS4 still uses only one core for some operations, which can make it annoyingly slow (e.g., in saving large files) regardless of RAM or HD...

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

That is a partial answer, but also I'd rather have a retail drive. Another reason is that the 5400RPM drives are good for backups, yet there are no 7200RPM 2TB drives to back up.
