They weren't there a few days ago and may have arrived just today. I wonder if Seagate resolved all of their crappy drive issues in this generation. I'll not be the first to try one. ;)

    Netbook for the wife

Sorry to barge in, but I am also in search of a netbook. I want one with 3 USB ports, XP, NLT 1GB RAM and ideally a 2.5" HD that can be replaced. I will be using the netbook for travel, and stuffing it in the checked luggage. Applications will be Breeze Downloader Pro, Breeze Browser Pro and...

WD to launch 2TB drives, lose data

Is this about the WD 7200 RPM 2TB drive? I'll probably replace a couple of 1TB drives with them in Q3, so there will be >18.8 TB on the main system. Then maybe 6 more 2TB for 1TB swaps will be feasible later on.

    Dell G2410 LCD 24" - any good?

Yes, cheap and crappy is everything today. :( I still don't like any display much more than my old 2005 21.3" LCD.

    Dell G2410 LCD 24" - any good?

I thought it was bad last year, but the newer monitors are shorter yet. Now you don't even get 1200 pixels in a 24" display. I find them difficult to work with in typical office use. The scam here is that the same diagonal has less pixels.

SSDs - State of the Product?

I forgot this thread. My limitations are mostly with PS and (infrequently) PTGUI. The problem is that I have only one SSD, so the system can bog down when it is in heavy use. I can't decide whether it would be worthwhile to add another SDD, so that the temp files could be on a separate drive...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Where are we now with the state of the SSD? I'm suffering from lack of capacity in the 32GB X25-E. Are there any alternatives with good write performance like the X25-E? $750 seems excessive for the 64GB X25-E if there is something better or the same available now or very soon.

    >500GB Drives

Sure, everyone has been saying that for years. Yet one would expect larger drives in H2 of this year. There is room for at least one more round of larger magnetic drives at a substantially lower cost that SSD, IMO.

    >500GB Drives

Can they do that for the price of a new HD in the market, i.e. <$200, then decreasing to ~$100 in less than a year?

What I mean is that if the display shows 60 minutes remaining with power on and then I cut the power, after 30 minutes it will still read ~30 minutes remaining. I use BB for viewing images and many other tasks, though not for converting RAW files. I would not expect an app from 14 years ago to work today. It's just not realistic. The main problem I've had with 64-bit OS is the printer drivers and a few hardware drivers.
