:alb:Surely there will be 3GB SATA drives too.

    Boot crashes

Sorry. :erm: My hand hurts too much to write a long explanation now. I have only two meetings on Friday so there is not much day-to-day rest. :( I'll work on it Saturday.

    Boot crashes

I tested the drive fully with the mfr. utility and there are no errors. System has been running for 30 hours now. Obviously I can't keep it on that way all the time.

    Boot crashes

I have not tried the updated BIOS. When it crashes I sometimes restore the loaded settings. I could try flashing on Monday. It is too dangerous to perform that activity over a weekend. A driver is possibly a problem, but why would in not fail the same way every time? There are plenty of...

Thanks, but I find nothing wrong with that drive test. I even replaced the drive with another one (magnetic).

I can't replace the MB. We established earlier that the OSes cannot be reactivated. It is EP45-UD something.

    3TB hard drive from Seagate

One would want to do that, but there is no such jumper on the notebook drives. :(

    3TB hard drive from Seagate

The 2TB EARS has 4KB sectors as does my 750GB notebook drive. The sectors can be aligned with a utility in XP, but performance in embedded systems is hit and miss.

I missed that event as well, due to the blockage.

    Boot crashes

I'm sick of the other computer crashing every 2nd or third time. XP32 is fine, but XP64 is the culprit. I tested the RAM forever with Mamtest, changed numerous settings, moved drives, RAM, and cards around, etc. Once it boots the system is fine.

What do you think of this laptop?

Damn that is large. :o I'd want at least two hard drives and a larger battery for 9.3 lbs and a 18" wide desktop replacement. Where are you hauling it around?

I'd say the 7D in your case. FX will require larger and heavier lenses for reach if you are not willing to carry a full setup with multiple bodies.

The username is a joke from a vendor audit I conducted some years ago. There is too much PII here as it, so I won't go into the details .;)

Knowing when to shoot and not is at least half of the battle. I would just watch the animal in that situation. I don't have many hares/rabbits but they are all at slower speeds such as 1/125-1/320 taken late in the afternoon or early in the morning.

100-400 is actually a rather good lens for a zoom. Stop it down to f/8 and make sure that the AF is calibrated at distance. I suspect a crop is similiar to that Sigma at 500 and noticeable better without cropping. There is the new Sigma 50-500 OS that seems to be OK, but not great. At f/6.3...

    Dell U2410 24" H-IPS monitor - thoughts?

I'm glad to have the Eizo, though it is getting old. There is no AC adapter or check valve to be concerned about.
