    Audio Equipment

It would go into my Pioneer Elite receiver (VSX-84TXSi) that has 4 HDMI inputs (for audio and video).

    Audio Equipment

I'm not sure about that. There's no way to get multiple channels of 24/96 audio from a PC into an external box that would put audio on the HDMI cable. I wonder if nVidia will use some of their Soundstorm expertise to put audio on some of their video cards for HDMI video and audio output?

    Audio Equipment

I want a sound card that can connect to a video card for HDMI output. Then the PC could output uncompressed 24/96kHz audio instead of sticking us with analog outputs, or DD and DTS encoded surround sound.

    The President's Rumsfeld Lie

Of course... How silly of me. I didn't realize that who was hosting the PDF file has a direct link to it's accuracy. You must have missed the fact that it's a scan of a fax from the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. That's odd though... Nearly everyone in the media and on the...

    The President's Rumsfeld Lie

You're very correct. Bush did what was right and Clinton did what was immoral (cheating on his wife). And, before you tell me how Bush and everyone lied about all the WMD in Iraq. Explain this. Even the NYT now admits Iraq had a nuclear weapons program prior to the US invading. So, now...

Cheapest way into a quiet PCI-E HTPC

This is what I have more or less settled on getting around Christmas (assuming I get a bonus at work). This is designed to be Blu-Ray / HD-DVD playback capable (obviously I would have to add the respective drives) as well as doing everything my current HTPC does (cable and OTA HD...

    The President's Rumsfeld Lie

Besides, I though all the democrats and liberals wanted was Rummy gone. Now that he's gone they want to sit and complain about the president "lying" to them. I would think they would be celebrating his departure and moving on to the next head they want on a platter.
  9. S

    The President's Rumsfeld Lie

Who cares? The situation changed quite a bit between the time of the two remarks. Clearly he's throwing Rummy overboard because the Democrats won both houses and they want his head on a platter. If the Dems hadn't won I think he would have stayed around.

    DDR2 prices

The benchmarks show you get extra performance the faster your RAM is... So it seemed to make sense. I was thinking to cut it back to only 2 512's instead of using 2 1 gig sticks though. I want a machine that's adequate for Blue-Ray and HD-DVD playback in the future. Hence the HDCP compliant...

    DDR2 prices

I'm still looking at a AM2 4200+ based system for my HTPC upgrade. The memory prices for 2 1GB DDR2-800 sticks are giving me heartburn. I priced it all out at Newegg yesterday, and it came to about $800 for a CPU, Mobo, RAM, Video card, Power Supply, and CPU cooler. I'd prefer a Core 2 Duo...

    DDR2 prices

For example I got 2 1gig DDR2 PC667 SODIMMS for $80 in April for my Core Duo notebook. Today they are over $100. They were even more expensive a few weeks ago.

So... Uh when are DDR2 prices supposed to drop? Earlier this year it was pretty cheap, now it's got to be nearly 2x as much.

-=Favor Request=- RE: WMA Pro SPDIF Passthrough

I tried using 1.10b, but nStant Media seems to bypass it. I think I got MPC working for video and audio, but I'm not 100% sure it's using all the Purevideo HD video processing. I'll have to mess with it later to make sure. WMP 10 doesn't want to play back HD stuff (1080i TS files) completely...

-=Favor Request=- RE: WMA Pro SPDIF Passthrough

Of course there's no gain without pain. I had been using nVidia's nStant media player on my HTPC, which for some odd reason doesn't like the Revolution 7.1 much. It will only output 2 channel PCM audio rather than doing a SPDIF passthrough like it's supposed to for DD and DTS content (It's set...

-=Favor Request=- RE: WMA Pro SPDIF Passthrough

I ended up putting M-Audio Revolution 7.1 into my HTPC (which supports WMA Pro SPDIF Passthrough) and I put my Chaintech AV710 in my desktop PC. With my new Pioneer Elite VSX-84TXSi I get WMA Pro 5.1 decoding from my WMV-HD DVDs. I have most of the IMAX discs and Terminator 2.

I'm in the process of getting a new Pioneer HT receiver that can decode WMA Pro 5.1 / 7.1 audio, so I was checking on my Chaintech AV710 sound card (in my HTPC) yesterday and it doesn't support WMA Pro SPDIF Passthrough. I have a few of the IMAX WMV-HD DVDs that use this audio format, so I...

That motherboard is pretty sweet. Putting a graphics card with a dual slot cooling solution in the PCI-E 16x slot doesn't block any of the PCI slots, and it even has firewire built in. Unfortunately, I think my upgrade budget just evaporated for a month or two as I'm now in the process of...

It doesn't support enough IDE devices, but otherwise it looks alright.
