Barracuda ES, worth the price over 7200.10?

They both have 5 year warranties, so IMHO, no the ES isn't worth anything over a 7200.10.

    Automotive Fuses from Harbor Freight

It's probably intentional. Someone selling fake fuses because they're cheaper to make. They sell fake eggs, fake bottled water, all sorts of stuff in China. You don't need to replace the fuse unless it blows.

Don't they cost more now than they did when you started this thread?

    July 22nd Intel price drops

Well, $266 was the disty price per chip in 1000 chip lots, so it was never going to get to $266 on this price drop.

    E85 Myths and Misinformation

Uh... yeah... right... That would explain why the price of corn has doubled in the past 18 months as ethanol usage has spiked (to replace MTBE in gas). I don't have any problems with Ethanol / E85. I have a big problem tampering with the food supply. I would much rather import oil...

    July 22nd Intel price drops

It's all about supply and demand... Apparent there was a lot more demand @ $266 than supply.

    New HDTV Purchase

Yes, but much worse. At least there are only 2 basic possibilities with USB 2.0. So far HDMI has 1.0, 1.1, 1.2a, 1.2b, 1.3a, 1.3b. Apparently some manufacturers advertise their HDMI revision by the revision of the chip they're using, not by the features they implement. So, if they use a HDMI...
  25. S

    New HDTV Purchase

Sorta... The whole HDMI revision thing is nearly completely useless because feature compliance is not mandatory. The PS3 is advertised as HDMI 1.3, but doesn't support several of the HDMI 1.3 features. It doesn't support raw bitstream transmission for DTS-MA or DD-TrueHD, both of which were...

    New HDTV Purchase

I guess I'd be hard pressed to give you a good answer. Supposedly Blu-Ray and HD-DVD will never support "deep color". So it would be things like HD camcorders and maybe digital cameras. LED TVs have a very wide gamut so its hard to take advantage of that unless you stretch standard material...

It's not going to be any better. Probably not as good. I don't see what the problem is. I have a RP CRT that I bought 3 years ago and it's got a narrower viewing cone than any of these new microdisplay based RP sets, and I don't have any issues with it. Granted I'm not trying to watch it...

Well... If you have 20/20 vision to fully resolve 1920x1080 you should sit about 1.56x the diagonal. So, 6-8 feet is about right for a 50" set.

The LED sets have great color and they're not very dim either. They're not as eye searingly bright as a direct view LCD however. I wouldn't hold your breath for SEDs. By the time they come to market there will have missed their window for opportunity.

I can see rainbows on any DLP that uses a conventional color wheel and UHP bulb. However, I can't see them on any of the new 2007 Samsung models that use LEDs (I could on the 2006 models though).

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Because the same people who are upset about global warming and the burning of fossil fuels are vehemently opposed nuclear power. Apparently we're supposed to go back to the mid 1800's ride horses and not use electricity.
  45. S

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Yes, but you're assuming an infinite supply of people and cars who need to get to work to saturate the roads. That won't happen in 2 weeks or even 2 years (if you improved 1000 roads).
  46. S

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Probably all of them, hence my earlier comment.
  47. S

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

100MPG? That's a big fat lie. If you turn a hybrid into a plug in electric car it's not really fair to rate it in MPG because it's not relying on the burning of gas to move. However, if you want to rate it that way... Heck I'll drive an electric golf cart around that gets infinite MPG.
  48. S

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

I would wager there probably isn't a single production SUV that can't go over 100MPH. Most cars can do about 110 or more. Often they can do better, but are limited. My car will do about ~150MPH and it's not small, it's not light, it's not a sports car, and it doesn't have 400HP either...
  49. S

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Well, I didn't suggest we change only one road. I'm talking about changing all the roads. If you change only one then people will move from their congested road to the new uncongested road until there is some sort of equilibrium. However, if you changed all the roads then in theory you could...

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Why not? They've done all sorts of other crazy things in the name of efficiency? Gas Guzzler tax? JTR wants to make gas $6 a gallon in the name of efficiency. The feds are going to raise the C.A.F.E. limit and drive the US automakers out of business in the name of efficiency. Why is the...
