    First siting - 45nm Quad

Are you sure the Xeon requires FB-RAM? Some of the Xeons are basically identical to the standard Core 2 chips. Fro example, the E8400 and the Xeon E3110 are basically the same chip and you can run the E3110 with standard DDR2.

How hot are your cores at 3gHz under load? With 4 instances of CPU Burn-in v1.01 running (in error checking mode) using CoreTemp 0.97.1 my 4 cores are at 56C, 54C, 52C, 52C respectively @ 3.0gHz (no vcore change).

I meant your list of characteristics. HID's aren't quite 140lm/watt, but some are close. They're broad spectrum and can do very high wattage.

What a crappy review. Their testbed is clearly too noisy to be testing the SPL of the HSF's when almost all of them are below the noise floor of the system.

That depends on the video card and CPU. So far I haven't tried it on my Q6600, just my AMD X2 4200+ with a nVidia 8600GT. The CPU usage is below 20% I think (due to the video card acceleration). I honestly haven't paid a lot of attention to it.

Yeah, the penalty for Visa fraud is pretty serious. I wouldn't want to mess around with it. My wife and I did the fiance' visa.

If she has a green card there shouldn't be any problems even if you are married. The problems occur when someone is here on an educational Visa or a tourist visa or similar and they get married overseas to a US citizen they will often not allow the person back into the US because they don't...

I hope she's got a green card or whatever already (assuming she's not a citizen). Otherwise the USCIS is really screwy about letting people back into the US who are here on an educational VISA or the like after they are married to a US citizen.

PowerDVD Ultra unfortunately. Hopefully someone else will come out with a decent program soon. I'm not 100% sure it's just relabeled, but it's made for Corsair by Seasonic. link Maybe not a lot depends on where you sit on the efficiency curve. I just don't need the extra capacity, so I saved...

Honestly, not a lot. I would like to be able to decode Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Occasionally I do some MPEG-2 / xvid / H.264 compression. Mostly my intentions to replace the PC come out of concerns about the longevity of the old PC. It is water cooled and I don't know how long the pump will last...

That can be very misleading if you have EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) turned on in the BIOS (assuming your board supports it). I have it turned on for my Q6600 and when it gets into windows the system is running at only 1.6gHz not the speed I have the chip set to.

I've tried several different programs and they all give me different numbers, so I'm not sure who to trust. I haven't tried MBM but I'm told it doesn't work on all boards, especially newer ones. That's probably why it locks up doing xvid. :p From what I've read 3.5gHz is very fast for a Q6600, especially one with the stock cooling (presumably) and no Vcore adjustment.

I never said I was the expert. I just don't get your comments. They seem kind of random, coming out of left field. I asked for comments on a new build to replace my old PC. You came in and suggested I keep my old system and put in a killer storage subsystem. That's nice and all, but it's...

Yes it depends on the memory multipliers. It looks like they are: Auto 2.50 3.00 4.00 2.00 2.40 3.20 3.33 So, you can set the memory multiplier to any of those, so your memory will run at the FSB (100-700Mhz in 1Mhz increments) * the multiplier you set. So, assuming you could push it that...

So, for example the Q6600 has a 1066MHz FSB. Changing it to 1333MHz would put the chip to 3.0gHz, but I could run 800MHz DDR2 in both cases correct? As I understand it the memory would vary from 800MHz at speeds in between 2.4gHz and 3.0gHz, or above 3.0gHz though.
