    TWC RoadRunner Speed Boost?

Cable companies aren't exactly know for overdelivering. It goes against their business model of providing the least / worst possible service they can without losing too many customers.

Mexico of course. :p I should have refused to eat from a fairly large roadside taco stand (well... large for a roadside stand anyhow). I almost did, but changed my mind at the last minute after my coworker and rep were already eating. :(

    TWC RoadRunner Speed Boost?

I get just about 7Mbit/sec down and 512kbit/sec upload here (bypassing wireless) from RoadRunner via BrightHouse Networks. I think that's what I'm supposed to get. Oh, and your IP is showing in that screenshot.

    Lithium Ion Battery Shortage?

I'm pretty sure Tesla does not use A123 cells. The A123 cells are very safe, but they're power density isn't any better NiMH, so I don't really see what there is to get excited about.

Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

The cheap Chinese BD players are right around the corner. According to a semiconductor magazine I was reading the BDA is working closely with about 10 Chinese companies to help them get BD players out the door.

    Lithium Ion Battery Shortage?

Tesla is, and probably all of the major car companies are planning to also. The current crop of Hybrids don't, but they will soon enough. They are perfectly safe if you take proper care of them. From what I've seen the car companies are planning to monitor each cell individually (just like a...

Isn't this somewhat old news? There was a fire at a LG Chem plant some time back. Then this has been going on.

    Apple record 3Q, stock tanks...buy.

While I don't share Santilli's apparent view of the entire stock market, Apple stock defies logic. Their stock is overpriced by an order a magnitude for their sales and what they do. I would definitely steer clear of gambling with Apple.

End of the World As We Know It

And, you're still a socialist. You want the potential of equal outcomes for everyone. You want everyone to have an equal chance. You want people to be rewarded fairly based on their work. You don't think it's fair that some people thrive under the rules of the current system while others...

End of the World As We Know It

Lets start by getting rid of all the social programs like Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, welfare, WIC, Food Stamps, then we can talk about the gas tax and highway subsidies which relatively speaking are in the noise. We can also get rid of all the gov't propping up of ethanol, wind...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Call me when they extend the warranty to something reasonable. When you buy a SSD you're buying something that has a fixed life cycle. A SSD will stop working correctly after some number of writes. A HD has no such limitation.

End of the World As We Know It

You pretty much hit the nail on the head. The gov't has been tampering with the housing market for a long time (through Fannie and Freddie suppressing interest rates on high risk people and loose fiscal policies creating easy / cheap credit) and now they try to pretend they had no part in the...

End of the World As We Know It

It is not really a private company. It's a gov't run company that is private held. You can't blame the "private" aspect of it on it's failure. The gov't aspect is responsible for it's failure. I don't care if they helped or not. They have no business doing that. Helping people into a house...

End of the World As We Know It

It's failing because it's gov't run, not because the gov't didn't run it enough. Freddie and Fannie had all sorts of advantages no private bank had. They effectively had access to an unlimited money supply at lower rates than any other bank, they're immune from regulation / oversight by the...

End of the World As We Know It

End of the World As We Know It

Why? Did Charles Chuck-U Schumer release an open letter to start a run on them too? No bank can withstand a run on it, so these rumors are going to be self fufilling prophecies if the public believes them. Given the frenzy the media has the public in, I'd say it's likely we're going to see a...

The hardware firewalls are IP based. They don't have to be just for the internet. However, a Linksys like firewall may noticeably slow down the traffic to that PC.

    Alfa 8C Competizione- wicked

The consensus on this one (from people who've driven the "ring") is that the 'vette driver while good isn't a "ring" expert. Add to that the GT-R wasn't a North American production model. It was a mix of Japanese, European, and American versions. So, it's a little early to read too much into...
