    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

Uh... You must be smoking something good. If GM wants to keep selling 20MPG 400+HP car they have to offset them with sales of 40+MPG cars to put the CAFE average where it has to be. It's not good enough to offer 40+ MPG models. They have to actually sell them. CAFE standards are based on...

    Why C.A.F.E Standards are Dumb

They're going to make sure that the only cars you can buy are the little unsafe death traps people aren't willing to buy now on their own. They're going to take away our freedoms by doing it in the name of the environment. :arge:

Do you think Sony will kill Blu-ray?

Sony has too many irons in too many fires and they're not complementary irons. This has crippled them. Their content creation side (music labels and movie studios) have prevented the release of or crippled their electronic products. Sony could have been the dominant company for personal music...

We should mod the boards software to refuse his posts unless they pass a spell check. Firefox has a spell check built right into it so I see no reason for such awful spelling unless he's intentionally trying to be rude. :bstd:

    2.5" External Enclosure Suggestions

This cable looks like the most cost effective match to the WD one. It's actually a 24/28 AWG cable (fatter than the WD cable), but 2" shorter at 16". I found another 24/28 AWG cable that's 18" long like the WD, but it is $$$. link

    2.5" External Enclosure Suggestions

I ended up ordering this IDE one and this SATA one. I don't understand the whole y-adapter thing. I mean, I know how it works technically, but I don't understand why they're needed when commercially sold drives don't need them. For example my 500GB WD Passport Elite has only a single short...

    2.5" External Enclosure Suggestions

I'm looking for two 2.5" external enclosures. One SATA and one IDE. This one seems to be the one to get for a SATA drive with USB 2.0 interface. This one looks like a good possibility for a SATA drive with a USB 2.0 and eSATA interface. However an eSATA cable can't supply power (per...

Kali 'disposal' tax? WTH is this?

Even if we were to accept your post as absolutely truth (which its not) it still doesn't explain why people are moving out of blue states in droves.

Kali 'disposal' tax? WTH is this?

So do what lots of other people are doing. Move out of California to a red state and then keep voting for the same type of politicians who brought the lunacy to California while hoping that somehow the same type of politicians will achieve an alternate outcome in the new location. ;)

It's probably good for ~30HP. Considering the motor dyno'd at the wheels what Hyundai claimed at the crank an extra 30HP it's pretty serious. A 306HP at the crank V-6 will put down 240HP to the wheels with a manual transmission. Remove the crimp and the 4 banger will be right there with it.

    Ceiling Hanging "U" Racks

I plan to finish the basement down the road, and I would like to minimize the amount of fastening thing to the concrete. I don't intend to put any computers in the rack. It will just be patch panels and a switch and maybe a shelf or two to hold a cable modem, etc.

So, I cracked open the N120 today to see how to get at the HD in anticipation of swapping in a 500GB 5400 RPM HD. I found an empty mini PCI-e slot labeled for HSPDA, a joke of a "subwoofer", and a SIM card slot.

Both. One is in my HTPC which is connected to my 57" RP-CRT Hitachi in my great room via HDMI. The other is in my Q6600 (office PC) which is also connected to the 52" Samsung LCD in my office via HDMI.
