    Recommended Budget Mid-Tower Cases (ATX)?

This case looks like it might be a reasonable option.

    Recommended Budget Mid-Tower Cases (ATX)?

I've already got a decent PSU. About the 300... I'm not a fan (no pun intended) of that huge 140mm fan and protruding top grille, nor the placement of the PSU at the bottom since most motherboards have their power connectors at the very top.

WTB: Something cheap with 66MHz / 64bit PCI slot

So, I'm looking to buy something cheap that has at least 1 66MHz / 64bit PCI slot or PCI-X slot for an experiment. Socket A or Socket 478 using DDR preferred unless it comes with a processor and RAM. Thanks!

So recently I had a hankering to shoot IR, but IR film is basically gone with the exception of Ilford's extended response SFX200 (not true IR). In addition to the lack of film choices, film based IR requires a filter, long exposures, and a lot of guess work because the meter is largely useless...

HD-HTPC, on the road but nowhere near there.

My plan is to get the nVidia GTS220 (with 7.1 HDMI audio) when they eventually start offering them outside of OEM systems. I tried an ATI card in my HTPC and it didn't work.

I can't justify the money for either of the two HDMI sound cards. A stand along BD player is significantly cheaper.

They are 1:1. Apparently the 5D had the 100mm F2.8 macro on it and the 7D had it's zoom lens on it which accounts for the softness in the 7D shot.

Fast and cheap don't go together when it comes to USB flash drives. The fastest ones are the Buffalo quad channel SLC ones that aren't sold in the US, but the 16GB model is ~$300. The A900 didn't exactly blow the doors off the competition with it's noisy performance. I wouldn't expect the A850 to differ. Still, I hope they put some price pressure on Canon (who is busy playing games with 5D Mk II supply to keep the price artificially high).

ATTO Disk Benchmark + Large Cache = Bad Results

ATTO Disk Benchmark + Large Cache = Bad Results

Here's why you can't trust ATTO on a RAID controller or disk with a very large cache. The 256MB data length is just too small to get accurate results. Here's 5 back to back runs with ATTO v2.41 on my 6 x Samsung 5400RPM 1.5TB RAID-5 array on a Dell Perc 5/i with 256MB of cache. First...

    6 x 1.5GB + Perc 5i + RAID-5 = Fast Storage

I may have spoke too soon. It seems the RAID card was busy doing things in the background which might have been causing the results to bounce all over. Two successive runs on my 3ware RAID card produced very similar (though terrible) results.
  48. S

    6 x 1.5GB + Perc 5i + RAID-5 = Fast Storage

So, apparently ATTO is largely worthless. You can run it 5 times in a row and get drastically different results each time. Now I'm seeing if I can set up IOmeter to basically do the same thing.
