Yeah, the G11 and the S90 are a bit like kissing cousins. I have a G6 and the larger size kept me from using it as much as I might have, so I was much more interested in the S90.

It looks like they have shipped out a replacement motherboard (same model) to me today.

They got it about 2 weeks ago, and their typical turn around time is 2-3 days. :erm: I've RMA'd a few things successfully, like RAM (G.skill) and a Soyo Mobo.

I disagree, there are quite a few fine digital P&S's. You're looking for the elusive digital P&S that will rival your DSLR. That of course by definition doesn't exist. Likewise, if you're looking for a $1k printer for $100-200 you're not going to find it.

I think there was in the past with OS bloat, games, programs etc. There just hasn't been any compelling use case pushing demand for >1TB drives. I also think the whole GPT thing for >2TB drives doesn't help things either.

AMD got out of the flash market a while ago. They formed a joint venture with Fujitsu for flash memory called Spansion. So I wouldn't hold your breath for AMD jumping back into that market.

I don't think there's a pile of market demand for super large drives. That probably accounts for some of the slow progress.

Well, Newegg had the Intel 80GB G2 for $215 the other day. So the OCZ isn't really cheaper & it's only got 75% of the capacity. I'm not saying the OCZ is a bad drive. I have a 30GB Vertex in my HTPC, but personally, I just don't see any compelling argument to buy them given the current...

I would expect the negatives to be more stable than the prints, but as always, YMMV.

I'm not sure on the V500 if scanning a negative will give you better results than scanning a print. However, if you had access to a good dedicated 35mm film scanner I would expect that to beat scanning a print.

My suggestion is don't scan prints. Scan negatives. :D

The chip doesn't have anything to do with knowing how much ink is in the tank. The printer has those sensors and as I understand it they're optical. The chip is there so Epson can prevent you from refilling the tank, or from using a 3rd party tank.

We have a HP 4240N (B&W) at work and it's a pile. It's got a page count of like 25k pages and the fuser already seems to be shot (despite being rated for 200k pages). There are "echoes" down the pages mostly on the left and right edges of the prints from toner sticking to the fuser and not...

Sorry, but this isn't true. They are completely portable if done correctly on the Intel controllers.

You must not have been watching RAM prices much recently. I bought 4GB of Corsair DDR2-800 (2 x 2GB) SODIMMs for $26 after rebate (including shipping) back at the end of April, and that was a pretty typical deal then. :viking: Prices are up to ~3x that now.

Yeah, owners are reporting that it came with 2 1GB sticks despite any claims Acer has made on their website. If you haven't priced 4GB (2 x 2GB) sticks of DDR2 SODIMMs lately you might want to sit down first though. It can run DDR2 800 @ 800MHz also. And yes, the Intel 4500 has full DXVA...

You can even get a dual core one for $400... The Acer 1410 with SU2300 (it is a C2D despite the Celeron naming).

I had 2GB of RAM in mine, and a 500GB HD. I could tell from the task manager that the CPU was the limiting factor.
