That's why there's HDMI 1.3 which allows more than 165MHz.

Enterprise Backup solution for multiple laptops?

Our office here has ~10 laptops (one assigned to each person). There is currently no backup solution. The folks in corporate IT want us to manually copy the important stuff to the network drives that are located in the corporate office. We have a cable modem with 7Mbit/sec download and...

    Windows 7 nonsense

I would think that the video card might be the weak link. You can get something a lot more powerful for pretty cheap. But, you can certainly upgrade that later if needed.

Nichia Develops 60 Lumen Per Watt White LED

I probably use my 4Sevens Quark AA^2 the most, but I have a love hate relationship with it. I like the beam pattern, shape, etc. But, most of the time the moonlight mode is too dim for what I'm trying to see, so I end up having to click twice to get to low mode which has enough light which is...

I think you're giving his comments far too much credit. He apparently thinks all SSD's are "enterprise" grade, hence his comments.

SlySoft sale now till Dec 31st.

Yeah, basically their target market is prone to pirate their product. All analogies always break down. I tried to come up with one really quick. Clearly it broke down a little fast.
  24. S

SlySoft sale now till Dec 31st.

I wasn't necessarily referring to all you fine folks. Clearly a large part of their target market isn't willing to pay for the discs they use the software on, in which case trying to sell your software product primarily to copyright violators doesn't seem like the best sales strategy.

If your goal is free ice, why would you pay for a better icemaker when you can get it for free too.

Not really. It doesn't protect against the machine rebooting or the power supply crapping out while writes are still outstanding.

    A Guide to Good Bodywork

So my car got rear ended a few weeks ago. It had about $1500 in damage done to it. I picked it up from the body shop yesterday. Here's what the body shop apparently thought passed for good work. They replaced the rear bumper cover and some stuff under it. There's a sharp edge at the...

That's certainly true. I got booted from some forum after pointing out their ATI / nVidia Blu-ray quality shootout was inherently flawed because the two cards were not level matched.

My HTPC died! New Build Time!

That was my guess as well. Since I have no intention to use on the onboard graphics it doesn't matter to me. Plus I think the Quadro NVS 210S and the Geforce 6100 are the same thing anyhow.

My HTPC died! New Build Time!

Well, the motherboard I got back works, but I'm really confused. I sent them a GA-M55plus-S3G Rev 2.1 (NVIDIA Quadro NVS 210S + 430 chipset). It seems that I got back a GA-M55plus-S3G Rev 1.0 (NVIDIA Geforce 6100 + nForce 430 chipset). The serial numbers I sent them matches what I got back...

    WD 2TB @ 7200 RPM

I'm not so sure about that. Their crash test rating is in comparison to other cars in that class of vehicle. A 5 star rated sub-compact is not necessarily (and not likely) safer than a 3 star rated full size. It just means that the 5 star rated sub-compact is in the top tier of sub-compacts.

    Wiring a house for LED

I think you're wasting your time and energy. Unless you're planning to do a complete DIY LED lighting setup just do the normal 110V lighting fixtures. 99.9999% of people have those in their house, so the LED lighting fixtures that will come out will be designed for the existing 110V household...

    dSLR thread

Well, even after installing SP3 it was still a no go. The application installs and runs, but when it attempts to process a file (JPEG or NEF) it crashes. I wonder if it doesn't support the Athlon XP 2800+ processor in the system, or requires SSE2 or something the Athlon XP 2800+ doesn't have.

    Netbook for the wife

Uh... Youtube has both 720p and 1080p HD, as well as their more demanding HQ streams. However, if you want to have a processor on par with a 1gHz Pentium 3 feel free to keep buying Atom based systems. For the rest of us there's the CULV based systems. :diablo:

    Netbook for the wife

ION = good. Atom = bad. I guess it all depends what you're trying to do with the system. My netbook drove me nuts because the CPU was too slow. Pairing it with the ION wouldn't have fixed that.
