I guess my memory was bad. The "brightness" control on my 24" monitor adjusts backlight brightness, not anything with the way the LCD panel is driven.

I think most still have contrast & brightness at least if they have an analog input.

I thought most LCDs now days had a backlight brightness control (like laptops) that worked independently of traditional brightness and contrast? My 24" LCD monitor does. My 52" TV does.

Please the 1400x1050 14.1" screen in my Dell D610 (work machine) is easily readable. Same goes for my 1680x1050 15.4" screens in my Dell Inspiron E1505 and 8600.

Have you tried any of those 3 cards in another PC? Since it doesn't have 3 slots they all can't be installed in there at once. I bet they work when they're not plugged into that Tyan motherboard. :p

I have one of their SSDs 30GB Vertex (original Indilinx) in my HTPC. I haven't had any issues with it. I can't put my finger on it, but their company just seems a little slimy.

Chalk one up to Newegg's inconsistent packaging. At least this time they seem to have gone overboard. I ordered 2 2.5" HD's. Here's how they came packaged. Each one was wrapped in bubble wrap and put in it's own box. Those two boxes were surrounded with packing paper in a much larger box.

I agree. Which is why you should test the cards in another PC. What do the reviews for the cards say over at Newegg (assuming they sell them)? I have to assume the cards can't all be complete crap, which means the motherboard may be the issues.

USB 3.0 time? Are you trying to hotplug the drives? Are the drives in an external enclosure? Have you tried the drives outside of their enclosures using a eSATA to SATA cable?
