    Windows 8.1

All of us mobile personnel at work are supposed to receive ultrablocks in July. From what I've seen the "docking station" is only connected by USB 3.0, which means the adapter would have to be unplugged and removed for home/travel every time. I liked the real docking stations better, since...

question SATA card for optical drives?

You can't use the opticals on the onboard ICH ports and then put other drives on an SATA controller?

    SyncToy 2.1 (x64) replacement?

I use SmartSync Pro for such purposes. It's very versatile and can run multiple jobs at the same time, including across the network.

    Windows 8.1

Wow, you must have a lot of computer people in that company. At most companies I work with people would go bonkers without their PowerPoint and Project, etc. :D

    Windows 8.1

At work we will be receiving new laptops with Win 7. :)

SSDs - State of the Product?

Even the Dudering would find that excessive. ;)

question SATA card for optical drives?

I had a DVD±RW on a card a few years ago, but that card is probably no longer available. Can't you use a PCIe SATA card that claims compatibility with optical drives?

SSDs - State of the Product?

Is that $7000 for a PCI type SSD?

    Windows 8.1

You'd probably gain more by replacing the slow X-25Ms in that old machine than updating the OS.

    Motorsport

After watching some of the video it seems like crazy guy driving all over the road, and crossing into the incoming traffic lane many times. Football, basketball, track and field, etc. are sports. That driving is just silliness.

Puegot still makes cars? I thought they went under decades ago. I certainly don't see them on the roads anymore.

I would like to change hosts for a website. How to leach info for use by the new host

Holy crap that site is slow. I went to the toilet and returned, and it was still loading. :( Galactic 8.9 is a little old, but still... I hope you can get a better website. It looks like they are doing great work for the community. :)

SSDs - State of the Product?

If the OCZ is a Sansforce SF-22xx type, then you probably won't notice much difference unless there are heavy loads.

    Something Random

I ordered on Sunday and checked on Monday and Tuesday, but there was no data. Now suddenly tracking shows that it left a facility this morning (no time) and then was tracked to delivery this afternoon, which appears to consist of a heave against the door.

Does anyone use the Amazon for computer stuff? They have some special Amazonian Prime 2nd day shipping too. Is that any good and worth the cost?

    AOL Tech Support / Scam?

Our IT is outsourced too. It's a bit goofy that you have to call somebody offsite to explain that the copier/printer is jammed or needs toner. Then they have to contact a technician onsite to arrive at the building and floor eventually to do something about it. Of course the number of local...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Well of course the TLC is not good for heavy use. My 500MB 840 seems to be fine so far, but it sees limited use. I would not put anything critical on it. Given the estimated price of the 840 evo, I'd rather get another Crucial 960GB and live with the slightly smaller drive. It's good to see...

SSDs - State of the Product?

I thought that SSD read cycles were non-destructive and that only the write cycles limit the product life.

    AOL Tech Support / Scam?

The stuff that happens at your company frequently boggles my mind. I should not be surprised by this time. I did not even know that AOL was still in business.

    AOL Tech Support / Scam?

That is one of your better users?
  36. LunarMist

SSDs - State of the Product?

It cannot be vaporware yet. Vaporware is a product that is not available on schedule or ever.
  37. LunarMist

SSDs - State of the Product?

The evo should be fine. The TLC 840 is sufficient for many purposes and this is a higher density version of that.

So in the BOISE that is locked too? K seems mandatory for performance now.

    Something Random

This is what people do in Tennessee.
  45. LunarMist

    New monster build

It looks like the cost of the special K version is about +10%, so that is about right if the OC is 4.2GHz compared to 3.9GHz turbo.
  46. LunarMist

SSDs - State of the Product?

No, I don't eat cake. I hope the price will decrease after several stores receive stocks.
  47. LunarMist

    New monster build

The old P4 also did not overclock worth a damn, e.g., my 3.2GHz was only good for 3.4Ghz. It's seemingly full circle now. :(

    New monster build

Do I need those fancy transvagional and virtual features for PS and Capture One?
