That was my first question to my salesperson at Modbargains after getting my tracking information to monitor the status of my order at Forgestar. Apparently that's their internal system's name for the powdercoated Ti finish.
I like them as well. I'm sure they're processed. To what extent I'm unsure beyond desaturating all the other colors in the picture. I'm not 100% convinced they're Estoril Blue Crystal. I haven't see a list of all the colors available on the S6. I do know Estoril is offered on the S6, but it...
After 2 weeks my Forgestar order hasn't progressed any. :(
I didn't bother to check with the dealer on the car this week. I'll hit him up for an update on Monday since it will be 2 weeks since I checked in and 3 since I ordered.
Arcsoft's Blu-Ray software works fine for DVD, HD-DVD, and Blu-Ray playback. No complaints there. I don't like it for media file playback. For whatever reason you can't do SPDIF / HDMI raw audio pass through when playing a .mkv or whatever. It will only do software audio decoding.
I'm not real thrilled with the way the color looks in that video. Of course the video is not properly exposed in my opinion and they only shot video of the shade side of the car so that probably accounts for my tepid opinion of it.
That's because someone else got their first S4 allocation and...
That's basically what was suggested to me. While the crown-gear diff is the new shiny tech the difference is unlikely to be noticeable.
I'd guess you're hitting the nail on the head. It's likely Audi will phase out the 6MT (at least from higher performance offerings) so there's no reason to...
There already is a S5, S6, S7, and S8 in addition to the S4.
:erm: I'm guessing she's well aware of it being ordered though. Taking delivery of it first would have been the very wise move.
Nothing much new to report.
I'm trying to dig into the reports of the crown-gear center diff on the facelift B8. The original German brochure for the facelift car said
The last line translates to
I noticed the last line about the crown-gear differential has been removed from the December...
For the most part it is, but it costs them like $5 in resin to fix a chip and they charge your insurance like $100, so it's a high profit operation which is why I suspect it's turned into big business (at least where I live).
Their style of business has really rubbed me the wrong way. IMHO, they're pretty consistently out attacking their competitors with vague empty accusations and conducting themselves in an often unprofessional manner on the forum. Their fanboys eat it up and carry the torch.
I see Glass Gremlins often in parking lots of large stores or shopping centers. I hadn't seen them at a gas station before today. They are annoying though when they're prowling around your car checking out your windshield trying to sell their services.
Nope.
I guess I should clarify these are the people who are trying to repair (not replace) your windshield where they fill chips / small cracks with resin. They advertise that it's free (because they're charging your insurance). Most insurance will pay for glass repair with no deductible.
Am I the only person who hate the Windshield Chip repair people that hover around gas stations when you're filling up or oil change places while you're getting your oil changed, store parking lots, etc?
I've started calling these people Glass Gremlins. When I'm getting gas I'm not looking to...
My understanding is that you don't get the satellite view (Google Earth) without the 3G connection if the data isn't cached. It's still Google maps loaded on the HD (as I understand it). The traffic data reportedly comes via Sirius/XM (not 100% sure).
Factory order bank means the order is in an allocated build slot. I.S. order bank means there isn't an allocation for the car yet. This post explains the different steps.
I think it's a 6 month trial. Reportedly 2GB oh the HD holds the Google earth data (cached) if you've driven in that area before vs. always downloading it on the fly. The maps / nav still work without the 3G data connection.
If you're trying to save weight I'd suggest a real BBK with 2 piece rotors and the like over trying to put a S3 setup on the car (unless you can confirm that the S3 setup is appreciably lighter).
I'm sure there's a pile of sound deadening you could remove to save weight. ;)
Realistically though a "big brake kit" will probably save some pounds. I guess it really all comes down to how extreme you want to get. I'd recommend modifying the car for more power ECU tune, K04 turbo, etc over...
I'm guessing it's not close to legal to drive on the road with that cover on the car. On top of that there is no way I would buy the car covered. What happens when you take the cover off (after leaving the dealer lot) and find a surprise (damage)?
Yeah, the minute you take possession of the car so you can get it on before any chips happen. My plan is pretty much to drive straight from the dealer to the shop that will put the film on the car (avoiding freeways and traffic).
Copycat! How long until you 2-tone the interior? :p
I've been looking into the price of getting some of the car covered in paint protection film (clear bra). The prices I have been quoted are higher than I was expecting. One shop wants $1700 for the front clip + mirrors covers with...
Feel free to copy me. It's not like you'll be parking next to me or we'll be seeing each other on the road.
As far as 19" vs. 18" that's up to you. I think you got the pro/con list pretty well filled out.
I went with the Titanium finish. It's a $200 custom finish. I purchased them from ModBargains.
Originally I was going to get a brushed finish to complement the Brushed Aluminum look mirrors, but decided to pass when I found out the gloss clear on top of the brushed finish was not...
