That would hold about 16,000 30MB lossless 14-bit NEFs from the D7100 and many more from other bodies or at higher compression/lower bit depth. I'd say that is a bit risky. ;)

Excerable organization announces increased incipient data loss capabilities

The high platter counts were found in the 1.6" drives, which vanished indeed in the latter 1990s. IIRC the 1" height SCSI drives had up to 6 platters.

They are only stacking more dies as these are the same family of 90/95MB/sec. cards that was around in early 2012 IIRC. The cards are available for pre-order at BH, etc. The 128MB size is a good option for many users. Oddly enough, the new UHS-3 cards (which require more pins) have not been...

    WD Ae drive

No, I don't think so. More likely is that the drive capacity may vary, i.e., yields of good sectors vary and drives are binned to different capacities. Typically they would design the drive for a slightly higher capacity and hide the extra spare sectors for uniformity. Over time and...

5D III is miles ahead of the 7D in every way other than framing rate and reach. If you don't need the body performance or use longer lenses, the A7R produces excellent IQ compared to the 5D III.

So am I. This 980X is getting old, especially the mainboard RAM and SATA limitations. I see that the octocore CPU is rated much lower than the hexacore, but is that really a limitation if the OC is not that much different? How much better is that Hasbro-E at the same speed (assuming it will...

Neither AF nor fast lenses are needed for formal portraits. I can't imagine a good photographer using a body like the 7D with fine lenses these days. More likely they would use a FF/FX body.

A pro will bring the appropriate equipment, mainly the lighting. In modern times pros prefer FF/FX bodies, though some may not, depending on the output expectations and your budget. In the old days we used 85/105/135 primes on 135 and MF for formal portraits, typically at 8Ft+ distances. How...

I have a goodly number of the 2TB Seagate Slim drives with the Samsung M9T inside. For the capacity the price is nice at $100. I wish I could trust the USB flash drives, but I'm using Lexar 1000x or 1066x CF cards in a small reader for lesser data transfers. I happen to have a bunch of 64GB...

question Differences between Sanyo's AA eneloops and Panasonic's AA eneloops?

The cells are mass produced so unless they made some major negative changes (which makes little sense) I'd go with the Panasonics as they are newer. Sanyo was related to Matsushita (Panasonic) years ago before all the corporate shenanigans in recent years. They have almost always made cells...

question Differences between Sanyo's AA eneloops and Panasonic's AA eneloops?

Sanyo was folded back into Panasonic/Matsushita. They probably have differencs in marketing, but there are only two current types. Thee xxx are the high capacity, faster srlf duscharfe and the lower capacity lower duscharfe
