The color would look better closer to daylight or a few hundred K below that rather than auto. I can't really get the kind of IQ I want out of it. Is that level of detail typical from the 7D II or something about the lens? :(

Yes. I think something has happened to the forum. It used to show the thumb automatically IIRC. Meanwhile, the image looks overexposed and color does not look right. Do you have the RAW file?

Is that some kind of nonsense mode for jpegs, like pseudo pull or push processing? Shoot RAW, use the histograms and ignore the funky modes I say. :)

The L bracket has to be on the Metabones IV adapter or it vibrates even more than usual. The damned shutter shakes the camera somehow, so the low shutter speeds are useless even on a solid tripod. There is also a noticeable shutter delay as well since the sensor does not have the global...

Why? What would you use it for? Many of the used ones were converted to PL or other mount for cine use. Back in the early 80s high speed films were of limited ISO and had mediocre quality, so f/2 was useful for some indoor sports at the Olympics for example. Today a 300/2.8 is just fine for...

I assume one would reinstall 7 and then update to 10? I keep at least the last 10 backup images, which are duplicated locally and there are another copy or two offsite. Some recent backup images are on bootable USB flash drives.

SSDs - State of the Product?

Try one of the enterprise grade Intel drives like the S3700, that is rated for 10 full drive writes per day and optimized for consistent performance. It's highly overprovisioned so the capacities are lower than most SSDs, e.g., 200GB rather than 240 or 250GB.

    Is my drive toast?

Five reallocated sectors is not the end of the world, but your drive does have almost 10,000 hours on it. I don't know what is normal for those particular model drives, but I have some drives a few reallocated sectors for a long time.

The first 28-70/2.8 Nikkor was the AF-S lens. I bought one in 2000 not long after introduction. It was a fine lens for the era and would still be considered so at the mid and longer end. At 28 it was weak until stopped down to the middle aperture range. Apparently the USM "S" AF motors were...

SSDs - State of the Product?

Today people expect EXIF data all the time. It annoys me to the point where I refuse to post images on my favorite photo forums. It should not really matter what camera, ISO, lens, aperture, shutter speed, etc. were used unless the purpose of the image is to test equipment or diagnose problems.
