    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

We went with Mushkin Blue PC-3200 and Athlon64 3000+ retails. I have tested these boards with 3 of these DIMMs (1.5GB total) and had to put the CAS @ the stock 2.5 to be stable. With only a single DIMM 2.0 was very possible. I ran a 3200+ for a while on mine without issue.

    Athlon64 3000 - who's taking the $215 plunge?

Well, my 30+ AMD 64 3000+ and 30+ MSI K8T Neo FSR motherboards are working beautifully. I love these boards, their driver update app and ability to flash the BIOS from Windows are happy things for me. Not to mention flawless support for the low-power "mobile" (or "desktop replacement") chips...

    Way to go!

I think the most boring thing about baseball is that 90% of the time, 90% of the players on the field aren't moving. If you were to put just one sniper in the bleachers somewhere, that could liven things up a bit.

Yup, nevermind, XP caused exactly zero issues on all my machines. My DynDNS client was the culprit after all. I don't run antivirus software either, and a simple checkbox removed the warning after the first occurance.

Leaving tomorrow for Portland again. But this time I'm flying. Due to the late purchase time of my tickets and the lack of funds a long-distance relationship leads to, I'll be flying out of San Jose to Portland via Los Angeles with a 3-hour stopover. This makes a 1.5 hour flight take 7...

    From an outraged customer

I gave it to a new customer plain and simple the other day. They have a T-1, but he still had AOL installed on his machine and used that to "get on the web" as he was familiar with the process. When I built him his new $2500 PC, compete with Office 2003 and Firefox, he asked "why didn't you...

To be honest, I've never seen the popups either, but there is a thread over there where someone noticed. Eugene even states later in the thread that he hadn't noticed before. I wonder what percentage of the users of a technical forum actually dodn't have popup-blocking software?

    RAID 0 again

I'm a big fan of the SATA cards based on the SiI 3112a chipset (or 3112r if you need cheap RAID). The retail raptors used to ship with a card that had this chipset, and countless motherboards (including those from ASUS) use this chipset as well. They also have a 4-port version (3114) that is...

    Mobile A64 Motherboard compatibility?

I'm seriously debating it. If I could find a way to underclock it to ~2500+ (1.4Ghz) @ <1v, that would be near certain passive capability. The ones I'm using are stock @ 2800+ (1.6Ghz) 1.2v and 35W heat dissipation. Not quite into the passive range, but really frickin close. I'm so tempted to...

    SF vs. SR

Not I. I don't think there have been more than a half-dozen links from SR to SF, though there have been many times more going the other way. I can imagine 2 reasons: 1. They were here first. Stealing their traffic to become just like them would be wrong. 2. Being like them isn't what SF is...

    Mobile A64 Motherboard compatibility?

I've been using the heatsink mentioned in the thread above, IIRC a Thermalright SLK-9047U. This HS requires no mods to use a mobile chip. If you feel it isn't on firmly enough, it's easy to shim the screws with washers.

    XP3200+ Stability issues

I think I've built my last non-64bit system. I just built a basic office machine based on a MSI K8T Neo FSR motherboard (I love these things, used about 40 of them) and a A64 2800+. The price premium is so negligible, and I have no problem selling the "future-proofing" capability of an A64...
