So you are running the MSI K8T Neo FSR with a CG DTR chip as well? My CPU temp is reading as 36C, with your corrections that would place it @ 2C above ambient with a 5v Panaflo...wow.

Quite the opposite really; I really like having a quiet and cool system. The best way to do that I've seen is to start with a cool CPU. This system will only have a single undervolted 120mm fan (ducted from a XP-120 (see below) heat sink to a modified power supply). Getting the lowest heat with...

I listed them in my post as they were referenced in another thread that I linked to in my OP. I have personally never seen nor even read a review of one of their boards or other products. Before reading their name on the list I hadn't seen it before anywhere.

Now that I'm thinking of it, I have had more recent expreience with ASUS. I have about a dozen servers running A7N8X (-E, -X, Deluxe) and XP 2500+, and my home system was similar for a while. I don't know why I spaced on that earlier...this is my third day straight, time to make a purchasing...

It's a thermal management issue. Those 20 machines are in a cement building with no air conditioning. The only way to keep the room cool is to mount giant fans in the windows and leave the door open to the street. We can't do that while no one is there. Any time the systems are on, they are...

Uh, OK. I haven't used an ASUS board since my P5A, but that was fantastic. For the most part, I thought they'd managed to maintain their reputation; so I didn't know their QC had slipped. I'm still tempted, as I have no experience with the other mfgrs on the list: Chaintech VNF3-250 Zenith...

Well, the K8T800 chipset seems to be getting a little long in the tooth. Time to evaluate a new board. The only features I'm really interested in are: 1. Best 2D Graphics card for $100

Well, my 9800Pro doesn't have a fan either...but it definatly doesn't help case temps much, it has a massive zalman heatsink that is constantly radiating heat at 45C. I know my case temps would do much better to get a G450 in there, and it's DVI quality @ 1280x1024 shouldn't be that bad... I'll...

I was very lucky in being able to avoid all those. But I have to wonder what the long term effects of excessive amounts of Lithium, Valium, Acid, Cocaine, Ecstacy, and quite a few others would have on bloodwork; brobably some interesting results. Quite a few of my friends have suffered heart...

    Computer bookshelf....literally

I like that one. I once built a computer there all the components were just bolted to the underside of the desk. Using an integrated-everything motherboard and a small PSU, nothing was visible from the top at all. Fan noise was also reduced significantly as it was directed down towards the carpet.

Yup. I can only guess that the foil shield is unintentionally grounded to either the board or one of the wires somewhere...I'll look into it more when I have more time. Right now I have 3 servers down in 3 different cities....great

    BIOS Issues...

Got it...I almost feel stupid saying what it was... I used an Antec Cobra rounded IDE cable for my DRU-700A. This is a really neat shielded cable that is thinner and more flexible than most. It also comes with a grounding strap on the end. Connecting this strap is the culprit.
