    Slow day?

Glad to hear it wasn't a complete financial disaster Merc, that's just one more reason I'll hapilly move into my new apartment next week.

    Slow day?

Well my 14-hour day turned into a 20-hour workday out of 24-consecutive waking hours. I now have 2 hours to sleep before Monday starts...this is going to hurt. Moving for any reason in particular Merc? New city or just new digs?

    Video and CPU usage

I just installed one yesterday that spec'd a specific intel motherboard (chipset with onboard video). What a POS. If they're doing on-the-fly video compression, they might want lots of CPU power. And if they're doing that, large throughput isn't that important. But if they are compressing, I...

    W2003 Server SP1 released

That's as relevant as the processor in my 4-function calculator being 128-bit. It doesn't matter a bit as it doesn't do anything I'm interested in.

Figuring out the graphic card universe...need for a database

I'm currently using Gigabyte's fanless 6800. It works quite well, but I did have to install an additional Nexus 120mm fan @ 5V to keep it under control in my extremely quiet/low airflow case during heavy gaming.

/still looking for a job in Canada.

That's the problem in living ina country as large as the US; millions can feel a certain way about an issue, and still represent a small minority. In a system such as this, if you are in the majority, great. If you aren't in the majority, trying to stop the flood/freight train/other unstoppable...

/still looking for a job in Canada.

As of today, there's no place I'd rather live than central California. However, I wouldn't be suprised if the situation changes within the next decade. Based primarily on the infringement of personal rights, excessive taxation, and subsequent misallocation of same; I'm thinking the values of...

If I were to go to Canada, it would definatly be Vancouver. Last time I was there I had a great time, but anyone who doesn't call it cold is crazy. I recently got an offer in Cape Town, that's tempting.

/still looking for a job in Canada.

Why Canada? I don't disagree in the least that the US is going to be a place I don't want to live within the decade, but Canada? I'm thinking Australia, New Zeland, Spain, even England, but Canada is far too cold for my liking.

    Schiavo

From the analysis I've read, most of her brain has attrophied years ago due to lack of activity, so anything approaching normal is completely out of the picture. As one of the PhDs on NPR said "Wouldn't it be worse if she was partially conscious?" I'd go after the parents for neglect.

I have 3 Samsung 191Ts that don't experience this problem. Just broke my first SATA connector!

Yay! Or not... Not entirely the connector's fault though, I partially blame nVidia for putting the SATA connectors right in the middle of the board between the CPU, AGP and DIMM slots. I'm having a hard time thinking of a worse location. I could blame that design problem on ASUS, but it seems...

Anyone tried the new DVD dual layers? Reports, comments?

I've had the player for over 6 months, prices on the media still haven't gotten down to sane levels. I doubt I'll burn a dual-layer disc before I burn a HD-DVD or Blueray (read: never). I waste of (thankfully not very much) money, IMO.
