Posting from Firefox on Vista x64 Beta 2 (Build 5308). When doing my research into performance tweaking, I ran into this which made me laugh out loud. MSDE over VPN issues

This is inside a VPN, so theoretically every port should be open. Everything else I've tried (RDC, file access, exchange traffic) works absolutely fine. I'm connecting directly from a 192.168.5.4 to a 192.168.0.14, either via IP address or name (a ping by name shows its resolving correctly). Is...

    Crossfire is driving me insane!

Well after running 10 hours last night (calling it at 7AM) we got it to the point where all the hardware was detected, the display worked, and inside the catalyst control panel we could go to the "Crossfire" option at the bottom (only visible if you have the right hardware), but the checkbox was...

    MSDE over VPN issues

I can connect to an instance of MSDE using SQL authentication just fine locally, but when I move the server to the other end of a VPN connection, I can't see the server. Any ideas? Google gives me a bunch of junk.

    Crossfire is driving me insane!

Nope, the customer isn't satisfied with the performance of BF2 with just the one X1900XTX card in there. Even at only 1600x1200 ann everything else maxed, it lags when you get AF to only 4x

    Crossfire is driving me insane!

'Fraid not. The x1300 and x1600 models can do it via the PCIe bus, but the X1800 and X1900 models do require a cable. As you can see from the link I used above, information is damn sparse...

    Crossfire is driving me insane!

I was so excited at the opportunity to work on this machine; the video cards alone cost more than my whole rig. 1900XTX (x2 - master/slave) AMD FX57 Sapphire Crossfire Advantage PC-A9RD480Adv etc, etc... So, I have the Crossfire Edition 1900XTX (master) card in the master PCIe slot, and the...

Even 500W ain't enough for SLI.

Even a hint of efficiency is not only not needed but is often unwelcome in matters of fun. I drive a VW that gets nearly 40mpg because I do 30,000+ miles a year. If I had a 10-mile commute to the office, you bet I'd have a 4+ Liter V-8 in a stomping beast, and would be most upset if they traded...

But that car would handle for crap. We need a car with L x W x H Ratios of about 1 x 0.75 x <0.5 for the best performance.

Even 500W ain't enough for SLI.

What a stupid thing to say. It's like saying the Concorde shouldn't exist, or that the Ferrari Enzo or Ford GT shouldn't exist. Exuberance and selective waste are the spice of life! SLI and Crossfire are great! They just shouldn't be used for E-mail and word processing.

    Incredimail, spyware, and paranoia

I'd need to admit that Incredimail users are the most daft, ignorant, and obnoxious users I have. These are the users that respond to SPAM and say "yes" to any...

    Switching to VoIP service

Vonage and Linksys have a package deal that has been flooding the retail markets (Office Depot, OfficeMax, Frys, Circuit City, etc) around here. Perhaps they are trying to only support the packaged hardware that they co-brand? It does make the tech support easier, I'd imagine.
