    High Gain WiFi antennas?!?!?

I have a 24dBi D-Link one here, and it's letting me use the coffee shop's connection at least a quarter mile away. There are nearly two dozen "2wire" APs within range, all of them secured. I wish I could get one of them; they are much closer.

    Automatic Parking Toyota / Lexus

Around here, at least, parallel parking may be a necessity for any driver. Parking is scarce, public parking lots even scarcer; I parallel park on average 2-3 times a day. Therefore, some competence should* be demonstrated before one should be allowed to drive here. The likelyhood of the...

I've moved 3 times in the last 30 days. I moved out of my EX-GF's into a temporary place, from the temp place into a potentially permanant roomate situation with some friends, and now into a 1-bedroom apartment with a new GF. Ideally this will last longer, as it's a 1-year lease.

    Antec P180 $69.99 after MIR w/free S&H

I plan on transplanting all the contents of my SFF system (Antec Aria) into the P180. I haven't been able to get the temps or noise down to my analy stringint levels. Increasing the volume of the case and airflow by a factor of 6 should fix those problems.

I've actually had luck using IETab for this kind of thing. You can create a list of websites that automatically render in IE when FF is opened. Windows update, Office update, and Housecall Antivirus all work using this method.

Suggestions on a simple computer backup plan?

Acronis does it in Windows, both create and restore, very easily. All I do is store a backup image of my entire system drive. I don't do incremental, I just re-do the whole thing when I think it's been a while (if you've ever had to do a restore from incremental backups, you know it sucks). The...

Suggestions on a simple computer backup plan?

If his system drive is 40GB, getting a drive larger than 40GB to hold an image of his system is silly. This is a smaller USB drive that doesn't need seperate power so it's easy to use. That, plus Acronis ($30) is all you need.

Suggestions on a simple computer backup plan?

You got it. Acronis TrueImage and a USB drive is the way to go. For such a small target drive; I'd actually think about getting 2x 40GB pocket-sized ones, and rotate them through.

IIRC, you mean the Action Pack. Last time I got one it was $300 and good for one year. I make my clients get them so I can set up non-production servers or do other testing. I end up using the 2003 standard and enterprise licenses there, and use the web edition on my workstations at home.

Spending one day nuking the current system only sounds like a good idea if you know the problem will take 2 days to fix. I actually agree with Merc as well; Outlook is crap software. But it isn't as bad as he makes it sound. It is an integral part of any "MS shop", and works for that purpose. It's also the most available contacts/calendar/task list/whatever app for those already doing the MS thing. If someone has...
