I currently have a large phone, and the whole point of getting a phone that can do PAM would be so that the phone doesn't have to be so large. If the phone was going to be Treo-sized, I might just do the work from it.

A service I am personally interested in is using bluetooth from my phone to allow unlimited surfing from my laptop. I've read that Verizon (my current provider) has removed this capability from phones that should support it. Is anyone doing this? What provider/phone are you using?

I just deployed about 30 USB EV-DO modems with laptops using Sprint's service. Speeds are nice, latency is a bit high. Due to my area (Silicon Valley), coverage is not typical of other areas. There isn't a dead zone for 40 miles.

If it's a wired router that acts as a wireless access point, no. If you want to do fun things like repeat wireless signals, or have 2 wireless zones (secure and insecure) than you need two.

I heard that it was available in Macs now, and just did some reading as well. Looks very cool. The only issue I see is that you need a whole lot of drives to make some of the higher-end features practical.

It did. Unfortunately, the attempted repair install has now borked the whole thing. Fortunately (?) I just got a call from another client who is having the same problem with a different computer, so I'll have another go in a few days.

What would a clean install have to do with a bad hard drive?

Never used one. Due to concerns about motherboard components, I've been switching back to HSFs that blow down.

Be sure to keep an eye on your temps if you are going to bump the voltage with a stock cooler. I'd recommend something a little bigger.

I never install the firewall, and I leave all drive-based settings at defaults. The Samsung drive testing utility passed with flying colors.

Interesting. With MSConfig set to "diagnostic startup" (pretty much everything disabled) it still freezes EXCEPT for the MSConfig window itself (the active window at startup). It is still available for moving and selecting options. This makes me think that it is explorer itself crashing. Ideas?

This is my 4th system in the last month with this issue. System boots normally, and no errors are encountered. Within 30 seconds of startup, system becomes unresponsive. The mouse still moves, and the numlock light still changes, but nothing happens. Safe mode boots fine, NOD32 doesn't detect...

I've done some searching, and came up with this? A USB hub with rechargeable batteries that recharge from the USB port...an interesting idea.
